My OH has a not so good credit history [ from years ago ], but is deperate to take out a loan for £8000.
Does anyone know anywhere he can get a loan, we do not own our home so would have to be unsecured?? OH is able to make repayments up to £300 a mth.

Best place to try would be your own bank.
Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
    Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08
    ANOTHER 4 % June 09:beer:

    What thrifty said^^

But I would add, if your bank says "no" sign up for one of the credit agencies. Card details are required during registration, but you can cancel within 28 days and it'll cost you nothing.

Although each lender has their own criteria, you should get an idea of his credit rating from the information in the report.
