How does your csa money affect your benefits (if you aren't working) if you are a pwc?

depends what benefits you receive - if income support you declare the maintenance and they will deduct all bar £20 from IS. Housing benefit and tax credits are not affected0

So if for example you were paid £400 csa, you would get to keep £20 then if your claim under income support was £100 you would get £100 deducted then keep the rest?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

if Income support £100 per week and CSA £100 per week
declare £100 to IS and they will allow £20 and deduct the other £80 so ends up
Income support £20 CSA £100
(if the CSA amount is higher than IS then IS may stop altogether)0 -
If claiming income support or income based job seekers allowance, they are affected by child maintenance.
Like the previous poster explained, you only get to keep £20 of your maintenance, so if all of the maintenance (£100 for example) is paid directly to you the benefits agency would reduce their benefits by the difference - £80.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61
NSD : 2/80 -
So it would only affect income support and job seekers allowance? Sorry but its all very confusing:o:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

Yeah, the only benefits affected are Income Based Benefits, from the CSA website :
income-related benefits are Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance and income-related Employment and Support Allowance.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61
NSD : 2/80 -
It wouldn't affect Contribution Based Job Seekers Allowance.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61
NSD : 2/80 -
Surely a pwc would have had to declare this money and it would have been easy for the benefits office to find out if they had not declared it?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

Some people would have already been claiming benefits when the child maintenance starts.
I think they do random checks into people's benefit claims and then the only other reason they would look that closely into a persons claim would be if they were reported for benefit fraud.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

in my opimion the csa are criminals. my husbands ex (whom he has 2 children with) has never informed them that the son who is 19 next month has only ever been in fulltime education for a period of 6 months from the age of 16 but has in that time had 3 fulltime jobs. and in that time she has claimed working and child tax credits and still recieved csa for him. the 3rd fulltime job he is still in and has been for the past15 months. my husband rang the csa on many occations and they said they would send a letter out to her which they did and she ignored. few calls later from my husband and another letter sent out which was ignored again they checked and confirmed she was infact still claiming benifits for him. which is fraud full stop. that was 10 months ago now and guess wot.. we are still paying csa for him. so the csa condone fraud as they havnt done a thing about it and know he is working full time as they checked his ni. so wot hope have we all got.0
