Well, after my long time coming LBM on 22nd July, I have today received my welcome pack from the CCCS! I am actually feeling a right mixed bag of emotions......nervous, relieved, positive (yes strange I know), terrified.
My or I should say 'our' DMP is due to start on 1st September with £32333.00 to tackle (5 creditors).
I am feeling a massive sense of relief in one respect in that we are finally facing up to our debts and looking at paying them off rather than adding to them. On the other hand I'm feeling quite frightened about all the pushy tactics and threats I am still to receive from our creditors. I've only had a couple of phone calls up to now and they haven't been too bad tbh. I've just been honest with them and explained our situation. What's yet to come is what scares me........
Anyway, according to CCCS, its going to take approx 8 years to clear our debts, obviously much depending on the creditors freezing interest/charges. Maybe sometime in the future we'll be able to increase our monthly payment and get that down to somewhere nearer 5 or 6 years, here's hoping anyway. Hubby has recently lost £500 per month from his wages hence why we are no longer able to manage our repayments....but hey ho at least he still has a job (touches biggest piece of wood I can find LOL).
Have been strictly sticking to a budget since my/our (more mine really)LBM a month ago and altho its early days, we've managed this month and it actually feels good to be spending money we've earned as opposed to bunging it on the plastic.
Sorry for the long waffle........
Off to try to work out how to create myself a signature now.....it could take some time LOL;)

Hey Katkins,
Welcome to diary world! It can get quite addictive living on a budget and trying to shave bits off here and there! There will be down days too, but all of the positive work getting the debt down seems to lessen the impact of the bad days I find.
I look forward to reading your diary! My OH has joined me in debtbusting now, and it's so much easier when there's two of you pulling together (or pulling eachother away from the shops lol)
Take care,

Well, so much for yesterdays positivity.....just had a call from dh, he has to go to a meeting this afternoon about redundancies! Why does this always happen? You think u r taking steps in the right direction and then along comes a big boot and stamps on you.
I've got everything crossed at the moment, praying the worst doesn't happenLBM 22/7/2009

Well, thank goodness OH did escape redundancy. I feel so sorry for the 2 guys who didn't though and their families. They keep saying on the news that the economy is improving......doesn't look that way to me.
Still no word from my creditors ****touches wood****. I'm thinking they should have heard from CCCS by now as the welcome pack I received a week ago did say that they had contacted my creditors.
Does anyone know if its normal to hear from creditors to advise if they are accepting your DMP or not?LBM 22/7/2009
