My husband is a lorry driver for a builders merchant, and so is out all day in all weathers. He eats like a horse, and takes a packed lunch to work with him which he has usually eaten by 10am  He normally takes sandwiches, but I was thinking of making pasties for him to take instead as they would be more filling, especially as we move into Autumn.
Ideally I would like to make a batch of them at the beginning of the week. How long would they keep for in the fridge? If I froze them would they be better frozen cooked or uncooked?
Any help much appreciated!

Probably it would be nicest to freeze them uncooked and bake them as you need them when you've got the oven on anyway for something else. But you could experiment and see what they're like if you bake them first and then freeze them.
In any case, you should be able to keep them cooked in the fridge for a while - particularly if you do some cheese and onion ones which aren't so much in danger of going off.0 -
Thanks Julia. I was thinking of doing meat ones as he is a bit of a meat fan.
Any other ideas for things I could give him? He isn't the biggest soup fan, and I can't see him eating pasta salad anytime soon... I've looked through the indexed threads about packed lunches but can't see anything he'd go for.0 -
*waves* also has a hubby who eats like a horse!!!
i tend to make sure he has a flask of coffee, healthy crisps (sunbites or sthg) wraps/wholemeal bread sandwiches/noodle salad, some fruit, sthg sweet either hm cakes/biscuits or a choccy bar, he's not a big fan on soup either but i like the idea of pasties, helyg, i could make a couple of weeks worth up and cook them the night before.
does he like cold baked beans? odd i know but hubby has taken a tin with a ringpull and eaten them out of the tin when he wasn't organised.Nonny mouse and Proud!!

Only one way to find out about cold baked beans!
He usually makes his own packed lunch, and makes ham sandwiches, an apple, crisps and a cake. He then moans that he's hungry and bored of the same old thing! So I thought I would "take over" them and make him something a bit more interesting and maybe a bit healthier too... Am trying to find his old flask as I'm making some tomato soup anyway so could try giving him some, but I can't find the flask. More than likely he's hidden it somewhere so I can't give him soup for lunch! I've got one of those insulated mug things, but not sure how long they keep food hot for? He leaves for work at 7 so it would need to stay warm for about 5 hours.0
