Winning Ratio???

Hi,
I've been using MSE for some time, but have only just registered. Over the last few days, I've entered a few competitions that I've spotted on this forum (and I will be posting any I notice too, which was one point of me registering...).
I just wondered if any of the "regulars" had any idea what their win ratio was between competitions they entered and those they won. Would something like 1 in 50 be about right, or is it more like one in 1,000?
EDIT: I also have a theory too, that you're entry stands more chance of being picked if you opt-in to sigining up to optional newsletters, promotional emails etc. Is this the case?

I have no idea about the win ratio really, i've never really counted the number of comps i've entered, but from what others have said on this board its more like 1 in 1000. I don't think opting-in for the mailings etc makes a bit of difference. I always select 'no' to mailings, and I have won quite a lot of prizes in the last year or so since I started comping.
Welcome to the board though, good luck and make sure you post all your wins in the "I Won", we love hearing about them!! x:heart2: Stuff & Thangs :heart2:0 -

I worked out that my winning ratio has been around 1/500 but it's not an exact science - some people are a whole lot luckier than others

BTW, opting out makes no difference
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

No idea on ratio as I also do not count the comps I have entered.
I also don't think it makes a difference if you opt into the mailing lists as I always try and avoid that and only do so if tricked by the tick boxes and I have done pretty well so far.2010: £86040 -
I've worked out my winning ratio is approximately 1:120. I never opt-in if I can help it and don't think it makes any difference.
Good luck everyone

Wow some are saying one in 100?! You guys are lucky! haha - I think my ratio is more like 1 in 1000, but that's very roughtly worked out.
Ok I'm gunna do some rough maths: I don't count how many comps I do but roughly 10 pages are added per day I reckon (although more at the begining of the month) so thats 200 per day, and I reckon I entre about 75% of them so say 150 per day - and I think I have on avergae 2 wins per week - so that's 2 wins out of 1050 comps entered, So roughly roughly 1 in 500. That's better than I though actually - cool!
That's just my experience though - someone else might entre all the same comps as me and win twice as much as me, or nothing - all comes down to luck at the end of the day so I wish you all lots of it!!

I think my ratio is about 1 in 500. As I enter only about 20-50 competions a day I do not usually get a win every week but about 2 a month. Having said that I have had 4 this month so far. It also depends on how many prizes in the competition eg the Miracle Gro had 1000 so lots of people won and your chance of winning higher.Be Lucky Everyone0
