cornish pasty help

Hiya

I want to make some pasty's for lunch but instead of the traditional kind wanted to do cheese, potato & onion (poss some carrot & peas thrown in for good measure) can I still do this with short crust pastry? when looking for recipes they all suggest puff pastry but i have defrosted short crust *d'oh*

thanks in advance

BB

True Cornish pasties are always made with short crust and not flaky or puff.

thanks for your replies - I have decided to give it a go with the short crust - they are in the oven as we speak! (fingers crossed)

I have loads of the onion/potato/cheese mix left over though & no ideas what to do with it?? I guess I could freeze it but not sure for what future purpose

EDIT:- Mmmmmm pasties are done & delicious - just cooling down for our lunch now :) Still not sure what to do with the onion/potato/cheese mix so any suggestions would be great
