Changing name and applying for mortgage

Hi
I just got married and am in the process of changing my surname. As I still have 4 yrs left on my passport I was planning to keep it in my maiden name and save the fee for a new one, obviously booking all travel in that name too. All my bank stuff, credit card, bills, council tax/electoral roll and driving licence will be changed to the new surname.
However we are wanting to buy our first house soon and will be having a meeting with a mortgage broker sometime in the next month or so. DH has a good salary but I'm a PhD student with a studentship, and working 6hrs/wk, so thought we needed the experience of a broker to find a mortgage that suits us.
Will it be a problem if my passport is in my maiden name? I know on credit checks they ask for previous names but will it be a problem if the ID items I present aren't all in the same name?
And I guess the other question is if the consensus is I should change the name on the passport, is it OK to do this after/during the AIP process as long as I have the new passport with new name when the time comes to do the "proper" mortgage offer?
I'm pretty paranoid about things not matching up and affecting our application, so any advice would be welcome. Thanks!

As long as you have the driving licence in your new name and a copy of the marriage certificate then you will be fineI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi Morg Monster
Have you had your driving licence changed yet?? I sent mine off for a name change on 6th August and am told it should take a month - only thing is I had to send off my paper and photo ID licence, my passport, and as my passport is in my maiden name (as I also don't want to pay to change it yet!), I had to send off my original marriage certificate - so I am currently IDless and have photocopies only.0
