CSA general question help

Can anyone help with my questions?
If my husband's ex-wife has remarried does it make any difference to his payments for his 11 year old daughter? He also has a 14 year old to a previous partner who has married.
A couple of people have told us recently that it does but not so sure?
My husband is on the old system and has paid willingly for 14 years. He has no problems with this. I am pregnant with our first child and just want to make sure we're not paying too much.
Would we be better off on the new system?
How do we get on the new system?
Thanks in advance

I don't think it makes a difference to his payments. But I could be wrong. When I remarried, my payment didn't alter. I think the payment would alter when your baby is born though.
As far as I know the only 'side' that can ask for a case to be moved to the newer system is the PWC. Or if a case is closed for what ever reason, and remains closed for 13 weeks (?), then if it's re-opened it goes on the new system.
Best of luck with your new little bundle!

It makes no difference to child maintenance whether his ex has remarried. The only thing that would affect is if he was paying spousal maintenance which would cease when she remarried.
However your new arrival should affect the maintenance, have you contacted csa yet?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Thanks to both of you for replies. I didn't think the ex's marrying made a difference but always good to ask.
Not contacted the CSA yet about forecoming child. Must admit always frightened to incase they ask for a reassessment and we are worse off again. Each time we buy anything new like a new car or move house the ex-wife asks for a reassessment!!!! When we came back our honeymoon 2 years ago we came back to a nice letter from the CSA! It's like the ex can't see us moving on with our lives.0 -
Under the new rules, when you have a child of your own, the first 15% of your husband's take home pay is disregarded (assuming he takes home more than £200 a week). It is 20% for two children and 25% for three or more children. If take home pay is less than £200 a week, the system for working out the amount due is different and more complicated. I don't have the paperwork handy at the moment, so I can't describe it.
My ex earns about £182 a week and has a child with his new partner. It works out that I receive £37 a week for my three children. This will drop next month when I stop receiving child benefit for my daughter, as she has just finished her A levels, although I don't know what the new calculation will be.
I don't know the way it works under the old rules though.0 -

One thing to bear in mind - asking for a reduction for your new child could still result in an increase in payments, but it depends on the difference in benefit levels and your husbands income since the last assessment. If you have the last calculation and give current details, I'm sure Kelloggs36 will check the maths for you via pm.
If either of the ex's new partners work, your husband can ask for a departure to take account their ability to pay towards housing costs. I think this can only happen if the ex themselves have an income. Also worth noting, if he does it, they could do the same back if you work.
Good luck with the pregnancy, birth etc.0 -
Sure will be happy to do a check for you.0
