    Morning Folks,

40 days to go and counting down merrily now. Had the joiner and plumber round last night to talk about ripping this, that and the other up. I'm fast coming to the view that we're as well saving up for most of 2010, leaving the country for a couple of months, letting them rip the house apart and put it back together again for us comng home. The bathroom, with a few amendments, is now pretty much finally planned so a few more units, a stupidly massive towel rail, a fancy high pressure shower that should knock M off her feet off a morning and the fancier yet jacuzzi bath should all be in an working for April 2011 and shouldn't take up all the £8,000 we had planned for it which might yet mean an earlier start on the kitchen.

Today's job, on the back of yesterday's intention to perhaps grab a new credit card or two in the next month or so, was to take advantage of the current quidco offer of £20 for checking the experian credit report thingy. For the surprisingly high (33) number of credit lines attached to me in the last six and a half years, it was good to find that everything was green and all the varying lenders that we have and that we've had have had nothing bad to say about us. The account was then cancelled forthwith so we'll see if the quidco tracks. Quidco are getting awfully slow these days - they're showing a balance owing of £400 but I think I've had the sum total of about £60 in the last wee while so the tracking process isn't working as well as it used to.

Finally took the plunge and put up a load of all my cupboard clearing efforts on the eBay. It wasn't as hard as I'd anticipated it being so we'll see how it goes. If I make a couple of hundred pounds out of it, I'll be delighted. No bids and no watchers yet but they're all on for a week so hopefully that will change shortly. If anyone is interested, the eBay name is wynnvegas. Happy to take any tips off the seasoned sellers as well!

    Cheers,

    Billy

Can't believe you are so near the end of your MF journey!

    Good luck with ebay
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • Not long now till your MF Billy

Where would you go abroad for the two months ?

Good luck with Ebay, its best to send items recorded delivery that way you have proof of delivery/item being received. Unfortunately there are lots of scumbags on ebay who buy items via Paypal, receive it then put in a claim saying it was never sent. Paypal then sides with buyer they get their money back and you end up stuffed!

Thanks Cath and the advice is much appreciated Jock. I'll do them by courier through work if they sell as the cost is less than Royal Mail ordinary delivery.

Struggling to think of where I could happily spend 8 weeks to be honest...nowehere immediately springs to mind!

    Morning All,

A busy end of week and of family visiting at the weekend and we're back round to the beginning of the week - only difference is that every beginning now comes with a lesser countdown - 36 days as it is today until we're officially mortgage free. I'm seeing the bank on Friday but even if we need to move the deeds to somewhere else and pay an annual fee, I think I may daftly do it just to officially not have a mortgage - even of £1!

We did hit a couple of bathroom places at the weekend to firm up the ideas for the new bathroom. We're trying to finalise an all in price for the new boiler and new bathroom at the moment and that should be with us for the end of the week. We can then start saving up for that to hopefully be done in April but no doubt something will occur to set us back a wee bit between then and now. Decided not to go for the bath at the moment as, despite it being a half price (£500) whilst on sale, it's actually not that much more expensive normally from the place we're looking at when you taker into account the manic bathstore RRP. Also, despite swithering just a touch, decided not to go for the bathroom and, god forbid, put the mortgage free date off for a month as the 15% sale which ends on Sunday wil doubtless be matched or even topped by the likely January sale - bit of a risk but not the most unlikely occurence the world has ever seen so we'll see how that all shakes out in time.

Credit cards are looking a bit dramatic at the moment but we're due money back from family loans, quidco and payday is this week for both M and I so we'll get ourselves sorted, get the penultimate payment out of the way on Friday morning and then hopefuly lop these nasty three days off once I've been to the bank on Friday.

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Hi Froggy,

An hourly countdown - loving that!! I'll certainly have a wee look but any trip normally now has to include some element of gambling. However, when going anywhere flash, either Macau or Vegas are never really all that far away so we'll be able to hit the slots at some point!

Just the 878 hours!! Outstanding. I miss Fiji. Was last there in 2001 and absolutely loved it. Now that there's an additional option to hit the slots in the South Pacific, that's swung it for me! Just need to convince M to get all the building work done in a oner now and think about when would be best to shoot off...

    Cheers,

oh my goodness how great to be able to count down to mortgage freedom in hours!!! ...well I suppose I could do that but having not even figured how many years it will take me, im not sure starting the hour countdown right now is the best idea... maybe 283759378168 hours for me? (random guess!) :rotfl:

It is great to see the 2 of you having worked hard to clear it so quickly whilst still enjoying life, and man are you gonna have a great holiday once its done!

ps well done on the sports victories the other day :)
