Hello JK51 - I've just come across your thread. I agree with the advice you've been given on here - electricity, gas, telephone, mobile phone, satellite tv, internet, groceries, clothing, building and contents insurance, presents, they're all *way* too high. By checking out the various boards on this forum, and working through the articles on the main site, you'll probably be able to save a couple of hundred pounds a month, literally.

Two things that haven't been mentioned: the pet food/litter of £35 is another amount that seems high, unless you have half a dozen animals or something..... and your own prescriptions charge - or is that private dental insurance? Anyway, they both seem high, and given that you don't seem to have been working on getting your bills down (except your water rates - well done you!!! :) ) you might have some wiggle room there too.

I'm *sure* you don't need a dmp. Not with the sort of options that you have in this SOA. As long as you make the cuts and contact the PO people, you'll be fine.

I AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. LBM 08£77240.69 Current outstanding total £36083.01 Paid so far = £41157.68
  • Make sure you use the cash back sites wherever possible and you will be able to save up that way for Xmas. Just be sure you clear your cookies if you use any comparison sites otherwise it won't track.

Regarding pet stuff - have you tried buying over the internet as it works out far cheaper. Do you have a friend that also buys pet food so that you could combine your orders and get free delivery?
  • £800+ pa for buildings and contents insurance! I pay a quarter of that. Use the comparison sites to get a better deal.
  • - oh and when looking fo the better deals on sat TV, phones, gas and electric etc etc, make sure you register with a site such as TopCashBack or Quidco and take out the renewale throught hat site. for example, we ahve just changed dual fuel suppliers to EDF. Not only was the new account £240 pa cheaper than our current prvider there was £60 cashback through a moneyback site. Then use your moneyback site to use for gifts for xmas or to pay off that horrible PO Credit card.
Another thought for quick cash, Ebay some clothes or itesm you don't need?
You've done the right thing coming on here. i'm only about 2 weeks ahead of you witht he lightbulb moment but I feel better already. interspersed with moments of panic!
