I bought ginger + garlic powder today, is it any good?

I've never had any hassle with garlic and I've found the powder very lacking.
I make real old style ginger beer which requires the grating of a lot of ginger. I boil it, grate it but never peel it. I even grate it direct into curries.Tim0 -
I tend to use dried or powdered herbs & spices rather than fresh & everything comes out ok. A great alternative though is the "lazy" versions. You can buy jars of chillis, ginger & garlic already prepared & in oil which I find very handy.

Powdered garlic does not have the health benefits of fresh garlic, which is a superfood.0

Thanks for the tips everyone. Seems all the powdered ginger is good for is gingerbread, etc. I think I'll buy myself one of those garlic crushers and bulk freeze some fresh garlic and ginger.0

I've just seen garlic ginger and chilli paste in jars for 59p in a chealie shop. I didn't buy it because I have a habit of buyibg these kinds of things and throwing them out a few weeks later.
It wasn't pure paste but in some sort of liquid?0 -

How do you make your ginger beer please? That is one of my next things to try again - made it years ago, but completely forgot how.0 -
In Asda today they had minced ginger and garlic frozen into cubes (Asian bit of freezer section) for £1 a pack (£2.50 per kg).0
