4th Birthday party - Ideas please

Hi

My daughter will be 4 on the 6th September and wants a butterfly themed party.

I have ordered some masks and bits and pieces from Baker Ross for them to make including picking up some plain paper bags with string handles for them all to make their party bags.

However can anyone else suggest what I can do around the butterfly theme. Have bought some cutters to make butterfly sandwiches and cookies but at a loss as to what else???

Any help would be fantastic!:j

How about butterfly cakes, or playing musical butterflies (when the music stops they have to flap like a butterfly!). Does every one know each other - or you could have butterfly shaped name tags. Will have a think and return if I have any other ideas.

Butterly wings. Im sure you could pick some up cheaply in bargin stores.

I typed in "butterfly decorations" into ebay.... LOTS results such as butterly garland, butteflies, table confetti shaped butterflies!! all v cheap.

Also if sending invites- butterfly themed?
For party favours- there are some butterfly designed organza bags
  • Party is this weekend. However our car has just had to have major surgery and now the party is going to have to be on a shoestring!!!!

Have started to make the butterfly decorations and have dyed popcorn pink and started to make garlands with pink butterflys but I need inspiration with what food to make/cook.

Also as the party is at midday do I need to feed the adults ???? I could whip up my fabby lasagne. My in-laws are travelling to the party so I am going to have to give them something other than party food.

I know you lot have fabby ideas so could someone insert some inspiration to a broke and tired Mum of 3!!!!

Still have to get the school shoes yet as well ( where is that money tree planted again
  • Please help me!!!! With the party that is I pay someone good money to help me in other ways!!!!!!!!!;):rotfl:
  • butterfly shaped cookie cutter is a great idea (value loaf of bread, value cheese spread, value choc spread, value jam will make dozens of sandwiches for a couple of pounds) and butterfly buns.

You can also make butterfly feeders as a party activity. Cut ot butterfly shaped pieces of card (from old cereal boxes) for them to decorate, stick a bottle top in the middle with a piece of cotton wool in it and fasten to a stick, put sugar and water on the cotton wool and it will feed the butterflies in the garden.

You can adapt most party games to make them butterfly games. Pass the parcel could be a fluttering butterfly, musical statues could be musical butterflies etc etc

Home-made potato wedges could be arranged on a plate to look like butterflies

I would also buy a few pizzas in (whatever's on offer in the supermarket) so there's something for the adults if they want it (you can always cook them on demand) but to be honest I don't think adults will expect food

See if you can get hold of the game Elefun cheaply? Basically an elephant blows butterflies up in the air through his trunk and the kids have a blast trying to catch them in a butterfly net!

Hard to describe, but I promise it is great fun for little ones.
