Debt Hider needs advice about Credit Report

Noob here! Registered here eventually after hiding away from my financial worries for years. Its time I got things sorted, a time for honesty and time to stop running away.
Anyway, about me and my debt. About 5 years ago I had credit cards/loans adding upto about 10k. I lost my job and failed to make payments eventually defaulting. I went thru CCCS and set up minimum payments (Egg, HFC, Barclaycard) but these started being returned a year or so ago - apart from Barclaycard. While out of work I got CCJ's for TV licence and Council tax.
Thats me and thats the bad.
In the last couple of years I have cleared all council tax debt and tv licence but I have wondered about my credit debt.
Today for the first time I decided to be brave and check my credit report on Experian. I understand the number is irrelevant (699 btw) but wanted to see what else was there.
I had no CCJ's - Nothing from HFC or Egg and my outstanding debt was £0. Everything was £0. The only defaulted credit on there was £421 to Barclaycard (which I will now pay fully)
So, my question. Is this correct? I was anticipating a horror show when I opened my file.
Any help/advice appriciated. Thanks. Mark

Oh, and has the CCJ cleared because I paid the debt? I thought they stayed on file for years..
Thank you all btw!0 -

TV licence and CTax are normally dealt with at the magistrates court and so do not appear on your file.
It's quite normal for some debts not to be recorded with a particular credit reference agency - lots of posiible reasons.
Sounds like your credit file is not too bad. Follow Martin's guidance and it'll get better!0 -
Thanks for the information, feeling slightly better already.
So, my previous CCJ's won't show if someone does a credit search on me? I am not applying for credit at the moment but my job requires me to be SC cleared by the DVA (Defence Vetting Agency). Really want to put my concerns to bed and get on with improving my file.0 -
Hi Mark
I'd suggest you also look at your credit report from equifax (and maybe callcredit as well).
Not all creditors report to all agencies so debts often appear on one but not the other. Only this week someone posted that their equifax report showed a CCJ on it that wasn't on Experian.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
The only certain way to check if you have ccjs is to use the Registry Trust - but you would have to do separate searches for each address you have had.0

Thanks for that link fatbelly - I was trying to tell someone about it yesterday and couldn't remember the name or website -:beer:A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
