Spliting up and dealing with mortgage

My friend and her fiance broke up and have a mortgage. I am not sure of all details but he is paying half until November but then is wanting off the mortgage as my friend is living there. She has not told me the following:
The Halifax came back when I tried to get partner off the mortgage saying that due to a couple of missed credit card payments in 2005/2006 they are unable to put me on the mortgage, despite fact I am already with them and have never had any money problems since that time! And as we brought the house with the help of a 17.5% government grant we are having problems as they will only transfer names on that if my name is on mortgage too. So it now looks like we are going to have to pay back £20,000 which we don’t have to pay off the government grant and have the house just in new partners name so I will no longer be home owner, L. Just so stressed, with mortgages how they are and the fact my house is in negative equity there is very little else we can do.
Is there any advice for her?
Thanks

They will be jointly liable for the negative equity, if it transpires that they cannot keep the house. Doesn't matter if the ex walks away, they can chase him, and her, for up to 12 years...
Better to amicably keep it joint until the negative equity goes away.
Though I can understand that causes friction with new partners and difficulty if another property is being sought.
They should seek legal advice on whether the ex is also liable for half the Govt grant, £20k, now the relationship has broken down.
A 50% contribution from him would in part ease the problem.0 -

The above indicates that she is not on the mortgage anyway. Or is this you trying to get on the mortgage?
What is the govt grant?Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0
