I've done it!! This is it!

Hi all, after many months of umming and arring and scanning this forum and asking questions. I have finally booked OH's BR date with the county court. It's 2nd September! Phew! I know it's the OH going BR but crikey! The way I feel it's like it's me that's going through it! After all I'm the one that's done all the research and filling in of the forms etc! And I'm soooo nervous!! Not so much of the court but of the OR's phone call afterwards, as my OH is to elect me as his spokesperson, seeing as though it's me that runs his finances now.

He's worried he's going to lose his car but I'm hopefull that the fact he has to start early mornings and there isn't much in the way of affordable public transport around at that time in the morning, and the fact that on occasion he is required to travel to another site further away, will be reason enough for him to keep it.

Also the fact that he sold his and ex wifes house and walked away with £32k 5 years ago isn't heling my nerves either! Why oh why do I have to be the literate one!!! lol

I'd also like to take the opurtunity to thank, from the bottom of my heart, everyone on this forum that has helped. Your contributions are extremely well received with thanks, thank you also to all the posters of threads which I have lingered and read, which have also helped us no end.

OMG! Fabulous b'day pressy!?? lol
    Good luck to him!
I've also just thought actually, (yes another question, lol) after obtaining advice from a lovely lady on the BR dept of CCCS, who told me that if I didn't want the joint account frozen, with all the problems of transferring DD's and SO's for bills etc, I could simply just take OH's name off the account and have it in just my own name, which I have done and now his wages all go into my account. I did initially list this Bank account on the br forms but have now simply put a cross through with a note stating that the account has been signed over to me. Will that be accepted? My OH now has no bank account at all, anywhere, only an ISA which has had nothing paid into it in a few years and is empty.

Should be fine...the court clerks will go through the forms beforehand anyhow so just mention it to them

Blue i did the exact same thing:D. I took my name off our joint basic abbey account and had it down on the form. I stated it had been joint and was now in OH name only.

On the day i went to court i had a 5 min chat with the OR to deal with any pressing issues. I told him about the account(as the only one we/OH had) and he said he would notify abbey as a curtesy, but he would let them know he had no interest in it. I had checked with abbey prior to my bc to make sure they would allow OH to keep it and they did. All was fine and i still have all my wages/JSA paid into that account. So you should have no problem either.Dx
