loan protection insurance

i have a natwest bank loan, i am now unemployed due to redudancy. the problem i am having is the loan dept want me to send into them three aplication forms of jobs i have applyed for, as there are no jobs according to all the phone calls i make, this is not good enough for the natwest, even though there is nothing tio this effect in the contract i signed with them, i feel this is just another ploy for them to avade paying my loan. i have spoken to them to try to get a resolution but failed, i am now going to let them get on with not paying till i seek advice.
should i take the matter to the ombudsman or take them to the civil courts.

thanks

I must say that I have never heard of thius before, how long have you been claiming on the insurance? Can't you just apply for 3 jobs (even ones there is no chance of you getting) just to keep them happy?

    Hi there

I take it that you are signing with the job centre?
If so I believe that the job centre whilst job seeking also supplies you with booklets to complete, to show them that your actively seeking employment? (that's if your on JSA etc).

I would take a photocopy of that and send that to the bank.
Did the bank also supply you with a AB1 form to complete? this must be completed by yourself and the job centre?
They should send you these, so if they have not then ask for this as they should do this.

If things have not gone your way, you must complain to the complaints dept first of the bank or their head office, and give them 8 weeks, then if they do not resolve your complaint by then, you can then move on to the FOS.

    Hope this helps, good luck.;)

  • hi there, yes i am completing the forms that the jiob center give me which the bank require, as there are no jobs to apply for i cant give them the three that they want. not only that, i am not contracted to do that in the agreement, just because there are thousands of people whi are now claiming on their loan protection, is no reason for the bank to try to avade paying as per their contract with me. we never started this crisis. they are too quick to say sorry we are not paying your loan, they said themselves that they wouild not ring all the numbers i have made to apply for jobs, they said they would take my word for it, so why is the job centre's word not good enough.
what will the ombudsman do, i have written to them too.

    thanks
  • I think you should take them civil courts.

This is different to the way it's normally dealt with by reading your post.

The Financial ombudsman service will investigate your complaint you have with the bank and request for information from the bank, take a look at 2 sides fairly, then of course will take your complaint into consideration.

If they agree with you, then the FOS have to ask the bank to put this right for you, and of course pay out on the PPI, afterall you have been paying out for it.

May I ask if your still paying out this loan repayment now your unemployed?

With hubby's he has to complete a AB1 form on one part and the other by the job centre, to declare that he is still actively seeking work, the insurers also expect hubby to give them a list of any employer he have contacted, even if you just rang a company let them know this.

    Good luck.;)

  • praise be some one else feeling the negative vibes from Nat West.....i too fill out the AB1 3 copies of jobs etc..send it back and then wait for the loan dept to process it (10 working days)..meanwhile if the date that Nat West come to collect my loan arrives and the loan dept havent paid out on the protection..i still have to pay the loan..which then sends my account into overdrawn mode...
I rang and asked why it takes so long to sort out, and got the old,,well theres a lot of claims..NOT MY PROBLEM....heres an idea..pay off my loan £23,000 when i get a job..reactivate the loan on the amount outstanding..too easy...
summing up the paperwork holds up the loan protection dept crediting my account with the funds Nat West call for.....what chance would you stand taking them to court?..i thought my loan was going to be payed when i took out the protection plan..it is.. but when they get around to it...
