this is really annoying..i have always used the same yahoo email, i want to join another forum on the net but it doesnt accept yahoo/hotmail etc, only the one you got with your isp. thing is ive never used the isp one, dont even know what it is!. is there a quicker way round it than having to go through the process of recovering passwords etc, i dont really want yet another email account to check. also the isp site is permanently down it seems...

A lot of spammers use hotmail and yahoo accounts and it sounds like the site you're trying to register with does not want to be inundated with spam. You'll have to use your isp account. Maybe your could ask for a new one if you don't want to go through the hassle of finding the password etc.more dollar$ than sense0 -
virgin and its taken me all day to connect too, this is happening on virgin too much lately. i get connected at some ridiculous speed then it seems to strain loading a web page and cut off..aaargh!Fr. Your email address will be along the lines of user.name@virgin.net where user.name is the name of the account. (it is probably going to be something-dot-something as that's the way virgin.net do things.) You may see the username in the 'connect to virgin.net' box when you dial up?
Chances are your password for your emaill account will be the same as the password you use to dial up to the internet. (From what you've written it doesn't sound like you're on broadband.) Spend £6 and buy a .co.uk domain name for two years.
Set the email forwarding options to catch all.
This way, anything you send to @mydomain.co.uk will be forwarded to wherever you want.
For example, I may register with the site with:
moneysavingexpertcom@lawks.co.uk
Which forwards to my Gmail account.
Other sites, I usually use, sitename@lawks.co.uk
which forwards to my Gmail account
Its also good for competitions where its only 1 entry per email address, as I can make as many as I want!
mycompetition1@lawks.co.uk
mycompetition2@lawks.co.uk
mycompetition3@lawks.co.uk
mycompetition4@lawks.co.uk
mycompetition5@lawks.co.uk
mycompetition6@lawks.co.uk
It also helps me track where SPAM comes from, so if I start getting spam sent to "moneysavingexpert@lawks.co.uk" then I know that they got the info from this site.
Similarily, I can also block email addresses so that they fail.
So if I start getting spam to a specific email address on my domain name, I can bloack it, or turn off the 'catch all' choice, so that only *official* address with actual accounts will work

cheers, i remembered it in the end after trying about 10 goes, this is the first time ive ever used the virgin email, i wont be using it again so i dont really need to pay for another email address, im quite happy with the yahoo one (even with the ''buy viagr*!'' spam!)Fr. An easy way to do this for free is to get an account at https://www.spamgourmet.com. They let you set up disposable email addresses on the fly with a built-in "timebomb" so that each new email address will only forward a certain number of messages (that you specify) to your normal email account; all others get blocked.
You don't quite have the flexibility you get if you have your own domain and spam filter, of course, but check out the site if you're interested...0 -
I have had this problem in the past and found that contacting the webmaster directly from the relevant yahoo account asking them to set me up has worked (they then know it is a valid email account).
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
