Our house is on the market and we would like to port our existing mortgage when we move. My lender told me I will basically have to go through the application process again and although they cant guarantee it unless I had gone bankrupt since taking out mym ortgage they would probably let me port it.
I wondered, if I apply for a contract mobile phone before I move house (so before my mortgage co do a credit search on me) do you think this will affect my chances of being able to get the mortgage to enable me to move? I don't want anything to affect the house move so will hold off getting a phone if I have to.
Thanks

All things being equal a search from a commuications company would not pose any problems.
Numerous searches might
But remember, there are no guarantees to porting.
It is based on a new application and their new criteria which will have changed since you took out the mortgage - i.e. income multiples, credit scores, existing debts etc
Soo if things ahve have changed i.e. had children, partner not working etc. it could impact on their decision to agree the portingI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
