Did anyone else listen to this program?
I was particularly interested in what it had to say about the DWP effectively gagging their employees; I know some who post on this forum state they are employed by the JCP.
They would appear to be courting dismissal by doing so.
Job centre Plus: Not Working
John Waite investigates claims that some front line staff are unable to cope with the increased number of jobseekers. He finds interview times with Personal Advisors are often having to be cut, leading clients to feel they're not being offered the personal and professional service the government has promised.

Haven't listened to the linky, but I am aware that JCP employees have been advised against posting on public forums. TBH I can see their point, for all the good that JCP employees can do on here, there have been a few examples where they do not portray their employer in a positive light.Gone ... or have I?0

Well, my wife was due to have her 13 week interview this week but started a temporary post on Monday so doesn't have to go. When she rang to cancel the lady on the phone said how pleased she was that the DWP had assisted her back to work.
My wife, who starts a job in the job centre soon, told the lady the truth.
Which is, that in 5 visits to sign on the longest she has ever sat with a job centre employee was just over 1 (yes 1) minute and that was because my wife needed to ask something.
At no stage has she been asked about looking for a job, offers to help find a job or any kind of assistance whatsoever. She has literally just had her book signed.
So, the DWP are not helping people get back to work because they haven't got time. The massive recruitment exercise they are undertaking should help towards solving both problems, if only they would get on with it.0 -
We have not had to have any contact with the JCP until recently, and I have to say that they are not helpful at all. If you speak to 3 different "advisors" and ask the same question you will get 3 different answers.
TBH I do feel a bit sorry for them because they are probably dealing with literate and ex-employed people in any numberfor the first time since the last recession. But I find that all sympathy disappears when they just don't know the correct answer to a question and then will not even apologise for getting it wrong.LBM-2003ish

Well I work for a jobcentre, have done for several years and personally what I do in my own time is up to me i feel.
If I can offer advice then great, if I highlight flaws in the sytem then so be it. There is a big difference between this and breaching any security issues.
What ever changes happen we will never please all the people.
5 years ago all the scroungers hated us because we were constantly on their back to get a job but others loved us cause we had loads of time to help those who wanted help and lots of jobs to refer them to. now..
scroungers love us cause we are to busy to challenge them others slate us cause we don't have enough time to help then and not many jobs to offer. we can't win!
I don't slate working for the DWP but then I don't say how wonderful an employer they are either..0 -
Hi busy Mom, I got a question for you, as you work for JC+.
Is it true that the time frame for rapid reclaim has increased from 3 to 6 months.
If it has, does that mean that if a person signs on again within 6 months, they will have to rapid reclaim?:rolleyes:0 -

A rapid reclaim has increased but only if your circumstances have not changed since your last claim.
Any changes at all whether it be 1 week for 20 since your last claim are converted to a full claim.
The idea behind all this is to make it easier to accept temp work then resign, all other checks are still exactly the same.
Why the sarcastic face at the end of the question though?0 -
No Reason for the Sarcastic face, i'm new to this.:o
If you don't mind me picking your brains again, I have another question.
If a person signs off after 18 months to avoid being sent to Working Links, and they sign back on again within 6 months, will they be sent back to Working Links again, as if their claim had never stopped?
Thanks:D0 -
recent signing ons has seen some new people being trained/shadowed.. previosuly most al teh clerks wanted to see was you r card, and a just a quick browse of job list..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -

Different rules in different districts at the moment so depends where you.
My district is phase one for flexible new deal so inother words we are the guinea pigs.
When you make a claim you are assesed on your skills and what you were previously doing.
Good skills good and recent work hist carry on with stage 1
Gaps in employments or lack of skills straight to stage 2
Poor skills little or no work experience or signing from another benefit straight to stage 3.
12 months unemployed and stage 4 or any returners who were at stage 4 within 6 months, and people with no work experience or skills.
Stage 4 is wage goodbye, you have to attend provision till you find work, no get out clause and as i said sign off to get out of it and at any stage you can be fast tracked back to that stage.
Good or bad well lets see......0 -
What is a 'wage goodbye'?
What is 'provision'?0
