Gems tv

Has anyone bought anything from the Gems TV channel?

A lot of it looks like absolute tat or rejects from the Mr T collection but occasionally they have some nice pieces on.

The prices make me laugh too...
"Starting price £300 but all buyers snatched at £15!!!!!!!!!"

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

I just think most of these channels are a total rip off, my husband can't stand bid tv, he threatens to throw something at the telly if i ever put it on...

I think the only channel with any credibility is qvc, but i think a lot of the stuff is overpriced.

So in essence its the good old high street for me...

Never ever go my the starting price. Its a number picked at random by a computer.

I used to buy from GemsTV now and then. Stopped when they put up the shipping to Belfast to £12 it then went down to£10. Before it was the whole UK for £5.95.
Also the overall prices really went up. They now charge for silver what they used to for 9ct gold. I was always happy with the quality but I never went for the big expensive stuff. Usually my cut off was around £45, and I always bought off the website not the live TV.

Compared to what you would get on the high street the choice and price was far better, especially for the gold weight which I always considered as well. Gems like morganite, kunzite, alexanderite. You never seen these on the adverage jewellers.

Now I hunt ebay as many people are selling off their stuff. Some want funny money so have their head in the clouds. Everything is a size N, I am lucky being an M and can get away with the N. Its like £10 to resize a ring so people have bought then never got round to resizing or find it works out too expensive. They then sell their stuff on ebay. The other week I got a pink sapphire ring with six diamonds 2.57 gm gold weight for £29.99 on ebay. The pink sapphire is a good half carat stone. The seller says she paid £100 and I can believe it.

Now do realize that though the presenters do the panto faces and this could be Tiffany etc. No its not. The jewellery is made in Thailand, so the quality will be the same as high street. If you go to shoppingtelly.com they have their own gemstv forum plus other jewellery channels too. I find QVC jewellery pretty boring, they do quite old fashioned designs. I like the tension set more modern designs.

I've never bought anything but my boss and his wife have bought loads from there. It looks ok to me, good quality and they reckon that the service is good.
They particularly like the watches..... although why they need so many is a mystery to me........
  • I've bought from the gemstv website, it is pretty good, I had an absolute bargain from them the other year when I got a ruby and sapphire gold ring for £25, beautiful quality. But I think that prices have gone up and quality down recently. However there are bargains to be had if you look carefully, and set yourself a limit when you are bidding. Excellent prices for "real" jewellery.
