Hi all,
We are in need of a buy to let mortgage we need one for 30K on a property worth 90K. I have used L&C for mortgages on residential properties and to be honest regardless of what martin tells you, they are just sales snakes like the rest of em. I was sucked in by the martin says trap and yes they are good at finding one but try all the sales tricks in the book to get you to sign on the dotted line. I have chanced my luck after making two enquires for residential mortgages and opted against moving saving hundreds of pounds so far. How long this will last when interest rates start going up I dont know but I'm definately better off for the tme being.
So rant aside who is doing a decent buy to let at the min?
Thanks :rotfl:

Personally I've always found L&C to be helpful and have never pressurised me in to signing for a product. I've enquired three times in the past for mortgage products, remortgaged twice through them, and once got a similar deal to they found with my existing mortgage provider without all the paperwork.
Obviously different people's experience varies, but I've never had a problem with them, which is more than can be said of an IFA/broker, and a couple of affiliated mortgage advisors I've had dealings with in the distant past.
Of course a broker who works on comission will want you to buy a product so they get some comission. But I've personally never found L&C to be pushy beyond sending me the details and phoning me twice to check if I got the details (and had any questions) with a subsequent followup to check if I wanted to go ahead or required them to look at other products. YMMV!
As for the best BTL - you could pick a whole of market "sales snakes" broker who won't charge a fee you are comfortable with, or pay a fee up front for advice, or pick a suitable mortgage comparison website and do the homework yourself.
