The wedding dress shopping is over!

The wedding dress shopping is over!
Would you believe my darling daughter has decided to buy the original dress she initially fell in love with!
She had convinced herself that it would be impossible to wear abroad but as you know, hasn't settled on anything else. This dress is not one that we think Milly or Landy could copy, the way the skirt is made is difficult to show in photo's and it's what makes the shape. She didn't feel she could justify the cost but we went back to the shop today to look at bm dresses and she was persuaded to try it on. The bm's were knocked out and the owner of the shop explained how it would be better than some others for a wedding abroad as the skirt is taffetta so it is very light and the petticoat keeps it away from her legs allowing the air to circulate.
She admitted she still loved it so, with a good discount from the shop, decided to go for it! We will have to cut back a little on other things but oh, she does look gorgeous!
This is the 'official' pic from the website but it just doesn't do it justice - I'm not allowed to put up the pics we took today:rolleyes:

Love it! Funny how you go back to the one you originally loved... Bet you are glad :)

And no, I haven't decided yet
  • I always knew this was why nothing ever seemed right so when we went back to the shop to look at bm dresses I urged them to get her to try it (they hadn't seen it). The price was a bugbear but after trying Jenny Packham's at nearly double the price it didn't seem quite so bad. We're going to have to cut back on other little things but the dress is her. The shop owner did her a deal because she didn't want her to leave the shop without a dress that was so obviously made for her - and that wasn't sales pitch. The owner's husband said that he's seen many brides in many dresses and this dress was one of his favourites but he'd never seen anyone look so gorgeous in it!
The dress is actually a lot lighter than some she's tried (including some so called destination dresses!) and the shop owner is going to pack it up so that she can DHL it over to her friend.
I am relieved, I have nearly bitten my tongue off stopping myself from commenting why she didn't feel right in all the other dresses.
We just need to sort the bm's out now :0

Hurrah sal, I bet you are relived and excited now!! Completley different to the jenny packham dresses isnt it!! What colour is she going for, it looks stunning!

I finally got my dress at the weekend all bought and paid for as it came with a one off discount I couldn't refuse!!

So here's to finally having some sucess with dresses!!

Lets hope she doesn't get any dress wobbles!!
  • Thanks guys,
rinroo, she daren't get any dress wobbles, we'd be lining up to kill her! lol She loved the cut and feel of the Jenny Packhams but wasn't a fan of the price! This is nowhere near Packham prices! And as it was the first dress she tried and fell in love with, all others had to measure up to this!

crapwithcash82, it's Dizzie Lizzie 'Roxy' in Ivory and the bodice is encrusted with swarovski crystals. Dizzie Lizzie is very much like Hollywood Dreams in that you can mix and match the skirts and tops, this has a silk taffetta 'apron front' skirt.

nat82, you sound almost as relieved as we are! lol

Kaz, yes it is one good thing to happen. Are you having problems?
