Wage Slips

I'm hopefully ..... eventually..going BR in September, have my wage slips [ though have misplaced july's so going to have to ask employer for a copy ].....my wage slips all have varying amounts paid on......do I add the last 3 together and divide by 3 to get average?
Also my hours go up and down abit at this time of year....so do I state what my average take-home pay for next few months will be?

Yes, adding the three slips together and dividing by 3 will give you the average.

This may not be a very accurate average, only taking 3 into account. If you think it's a true reflection then yes.

Either take the last 3 months or 6 months average whichever suits you better. If your wages go up or down in the following months you will need to report it to the OR. Thats all you need to do.

  • Hi Skibadee,

Sos, I just want to hijack this a mo as I would like an answer to simular prob.

My sister gets paid 4 weekly, but her wages also vary. The last 6 mths appros 1180, but over xmas & new year it will go up as she works 2 weeks solid with no time off - Bar Manager of small mens club. Most of which will be OT. She gets 40hr basic with the rest as OT. She does a 60hr week.

Could we used the last years worth of wage slips to work out average?

Then do we times by 12 or 13?

    Cheers - & thanks Skibadee.

If you know the whole of last years wages then you could just put down that figure divided by 12 or she could (and this is the better option in my opinion!) get the last 13 wage slips add them up and divide by 3. That will give the average of the last 3 months and not take into account the extra money at christmas time. I prefer this method because it reflects her month to month earnings better and the christmas period has not yet come (you can't put down what might not happen) what you do is leave the wages like that then when the time comes tell the OR you might be getting some extra hours over the christmas period and he'll let you know if she can keep that money of if he wants a percentage of it etc. I would say as it is only once a year he would let her keep it but she doesn't need to skew the whole years wages by putting it on.
