Hi,
I really want to cut the cost of meat in my weekly shop and thought frozen meat might be the answer. I eat vegetarian quite often to cut costs but really miss meat sometimes!
Does anyone know which frozen meat is good?
Thanks

I think it can depend on where you buy it from and what standard you're used to with meat.
I would personally steer clear of frozen mince as I've never managed to find a brand that doesn't turn to much once it's cooked.
I've tried frozen pork chops and some of these can be ok, though a little tougher than fresh. Same with lamb chops.
I always buy frozen chicken breasts/thighs as we tend to chop them up and put them in stir frys and curries so find that buying fresh is a little wasted on these dinners as I can't tell the difference when it's in a curry.0 -
Hi
Farmfoods minced beef and onions is lovely, it's about £2.80 for a big bag. They also do minced steak which is very meaty tasting. Its all scottish beef and maybe it's just me, but, it tastes just like meat used to taste when I was a kid. I was finding supermarket mince and stewing beef very bland.
I'm especially pleased with the mince because It has absolutely no fat, which I hate, so, you don't end up with any less meat than you started off with when you cook it. I dry fry it.
They also do stewing steak that is full of flavour. (About £2.75 a bag.) It's a little bit fatty, but, I just trim the worst off because the meat still tastes better than from our butchers or supermarket, my whole family noticed the difference straight away.
They have got chunky rump steaks that have been hung for ? days, at 2 for £4.80. They look delicious but, I haven't tried them yet because it would cost me a fortune with my lot.:rotfl:0 -
I like Sainsburys frozen mince and Aldis frozen lamb chops.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
