Post BR & creditor making threats

Hubbie went BR last month, one of his creditors was a supplier & unfortunately now supplies hubbie new employer.
Creditor rung new employer who thenspoke to hubbie this morning, creditor is making veiled threats that he will stop suppliying him & also that they "coluded" when new employer bought old machinery when hubbie closed business.
Fact was they didnt, he gave a very fair price for very old machinery, who if we'd had to scrap would have been a tiny fraction of what we got. Machinery is specialist stuff for their industry. The cheque went to the OR as an assets to distrute to creditors as OR saw fit. As far as we know this hasnt happened yet.
The creditor is hinting that we should come to a private arrangement to repay the debt, but they havent decided on an IPA yet.
Can see us ending up in another finacial mess which is just what this BR was supposed to have got us out of.
Worried that new employer will get fed up, obviously dont want hubbie to lose this job, it's been brilliant for him, but seems like blackmail from this creditor.
I think we should contact OR but not sure what they can do.
Any advice gratefully recieved - thanks

What a piece of S*** that creditor is!!!
If I were you , I would let the OR know exactly what is happening. Nobody should have to go through life being threatened by anybody, regardless of wether they "owe" them any money or not.
I hope you manage to get it all sorted hun0 -
Thanks for that - feel the same, could cheerful thump this git, feel very bad that hubbie owes them money, but we went through months trying to find an alternative to BR, cos hubbie felt so bad about this particular creditor.
I seem to remember reading on here that when you go BR you hand over the responsibility of what creditor gets to OR, and your only involvement is to supply info and pay IPA if given, you're not allowed to go around giving money to one creditor over another. Please tell me if I'm wrong but going along with this persons blackmail is against what hubbie agreed to when he went BR and if they found out he could be in big trouble maybe even BRO ??

Anyone know what the OR does to threats from creditors ? thanksDMP Mutual Support Thread Member : 3180

I would expect the OR to tell the creditor to back off. Its illegal to harass a BR for a debt.
Let your OR know first thing in the morning. And perhaps talk to the current boss. How does he feel about it all?
Whatever you do, do not come to any arrangement to pay. You will get into trouble for that.0 -
skylight hit the nail on the head there. dont make any arrangements with them at all or pay anything.
i could be wrong but the OR can apply to the court for something if the creditor harrasses you too much, i had to do that with three (mobile company). dunno what they did, but they stopped contacting me.
dont even speak to them except to say, speak to the OR - heres the number.
as for going to your employer and threatenning you that way, well threres, as you say, blackmail and harrassment. Surely the police can be called if they get too much. (im sure someone will correct me

Thanks. Hubbie is going to speak to his employer this morning and explain he cant go behind OR back because he'd be risking a BRO for paying off a creditor in preference.
Just hope his new employer will be ok, dont know what on earth we will do if he loses this job.
Just seems the nightmare will carry on & on, so scared about what this creditor will do next. Personally I want to call OR & tell them but hubbie wants to tred carefully with new boss being involved, but he knows he'll have to do it if it goes further.
Really thought the BR could be a new beginning for us, but think there's more heartache to go unfortunately.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member : 3180
