Slow cooker disaster!

Well ladies and gentlemen I've had a disaster, I thought I was being really clever last night by gettling organised and getting the S/C organised to put on for todays dinner, to I peeled the spuds, chopped the carrots and onions and rather than put them in a tub in the fridge with water I put them into the cooker, covered them with cider and went to bed, got up this morning, sat the pork chops on top, poured on some honey and off I went to work.
I spent all say looking forward to comming home to a nice dinner, got home, put the chops under the grill to crisp them up, made up a sauce with some of the stock, reduced and thickened it with some mustard and the pork and the sauce were really nice, it's a shame about the veg!
The potatoes were a horrible weird texture kinda dry and waxy and boozy all at once, the carrots were dry n really grim and the onions well they were like vinegar, so I'll chalk it up to experience and not be so cocky in future.
Ho hum, so that's it, I just thought I'd let you know about my awful dinner, time to go and do the dishes now
