BR In First Quarter, But Have Recently Had A Confusing Letter From The O.R...

Hi all,
I went bankrupt in the first quarter of this year. Firstly I would like to say thanks to all on ths board as prior to going BR I read loads of the info on here (but was not registered at the time).
Over one month ago I received a letter from the OR's office, saying:
"I refer to the BR order made against you on xx/xx/xxxx and write to inform you that I intend to apply to the Secretary Of State For Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform for my release as Trustee. A summary of my receipts and payments as trustee is enclosed for your information"
"If you are not already discharged, my release as Trustee will have no effect upon the date of your discharge from bankruptcy"
With this letter, there was an invoice thing of what they had taken from me, what their costs were etc. Prior to receiving this, I had paid the £50 to get a life policy re-assigned back to me, and curiously the OR also released his interest in some (albeit worth about £50) shares I had (which were ironically in Fairpoint Group!) which seem now to have been re-assigned back to me.
I co-operated with the OR office fully after the bankruptcy and I think this went down well with them. The assistant there said they would likely give me an early discharge, but this would depend upon some kind of new government legislation.
I have had no notice since then of early discharge, but am confused as to what this letter is setting out. does anyone know if this is a normal practice? I petitioned for my own BR if it helps and the guy in the OR office tld me it was a simple one to deal with. It now appears they have done all their work at the OR end, so am really wondering what this letter means and where things go from here?
Any light on this would be appreciated.

Yep, nothing to worry about. The OR has finished with you now and discharge is next; early or not though, so don't get too excited!

Thanks for that! Do you know if they write to you personally to advise of the early discharge (if of course I get one) or do you just have to look at the website? Is the website the insolvency.gov.uk one do you know?
Also, the Inland Revenue wrote to me a couple of weeks ago to say I had overpaid some tax in the last couple of years and they had sent the cheque to the OR. This was after the letter I was talking about was sent to me. the money was only over £100.00 so I am not fussed about it, but do you know if it will go to the OR still, if he has finished sorting my affairs out?0 -

As the OP's say what is left is to be discharged, although this may be early, it may be not.
In case you were wondering, when the examiner said about "new government legislation", there was some discusion earlier in the year about scrapping ED to cut back on administration time. Thanks very much for that information, it is very helpful. I remember now that that was what the assistant was talking about re new legislation. And I imagine that there are more pressing Bills that need to be passed in these last dying days of this Parliament!
Does anyone know if this means that the possibility of getting a BRO / BRU has now vanished? As I was always worried about that - they never hinted about me getting one or said I deserved one...but it does play on your mind if, like me, you tend to look on the black side of things...0 -

You should receive an 'Early Discharge Notification' although you may not receive this until maybe one month after the date of your early discharge.
So it's still worth keeping an eye on the Insolvency Service website - if your name 'mysteriously' disappears, then you have been discharged.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I got one of these letters a few months ago and I am currently still bankrupt, due of AD in 17 days so not much point in ED for me.0

No probs, phil - things must have changed - I just 'disappeared'
