big expenses

Quick question has anyone been allowed high fuel bills etc as they need to get to work. Here is my situation:

Need to be in work by 8.15 this is not possible by public transport if I got the buses trains etc leaving the house at 7 am the earliest I could get in is 9.35 am.

However my car outgoings are as follows
177 car hp, if i am allowed to keep car, I am sure I will have to take this out of any surplus I have
60 per month tunnel fees
35 car insurance
173 fuel
max 20 car upkeep tax etc

Anyone any view on what chance I have of the OR passing this.

For further info I work 30 miles from home and I sometimes have to travel between sites taking equipment with me (I am a trainer) so even if I could get public transport to work it wouldn't be suitable as I can be asked to go to another site at any time?

Even taking these expenses into account I should still have an IPA of over £300 which obviously I wouldn't have if I lost my job as a result of no car!!

Any advice or comments appreciated.

Thanks

L

It will be ok - if thats what you spend, then thats what you spend. Keep receipts though to prove you spend that much on your fuel in case you are asked about it.

As you have rightly pointed out, no car = no job = no IPA.

Is £20 per month enough for tax/mot/servicing etc?? That seems very low.

as long as you can show the petrol expense it should be included. i think best to set it out like this.

total number of miles per day

    x

number of days in work per month

    /

    mpg of your car

    x

    4.5 (gallons to litres)

    x

    price of local fuel

    = cost of fuel

All these things are provable and cannot be argued with

Thanks guys, have actually worked it out both from reciepts and from the miles to work and per gallon formula, it comes out at between 37 and 40 pound per week, evidently I only do 3 pounds worth of personal miles. Have been keeping reciepts for a month now.

    Thanks again

Hi I spend £120 on fuel a month for work and other essential journeys and also pay up to £160 a month for parking,OR didn't question it. Suppose that they know how much parking costs in my area.
