Debt Recovery Question ???

I am not sure if this is the right place to post - please move if not!!!!

We moved into our new place on 1 Feb his year and we have received a few reminders from British Gas about the previous owners unpaid bill which we sent onto the previous occupiers solicitor. Today we received a letter from Moorcroft Debt Recovery to say the bill had been transferred to them to recover.

I have called both BG and Moorcroft to advise that this is not our debt and they have said they will update their records.

What I would like to know is how this will affect my credit rating and do you think I will receive anything else from them?
Any ideas? Thanks

credit records are associated with people and not the address.
however i wouldnot rely on the efficiency of either british gas or moorcroft and would get a copy of your credit record just to be sure.
