another digital camera

Hi Guys,

Wonder if anyone can help me. I'm currently browsing through some old thread on digital cameras and I have narrowed my list to three. Based on comparision sites and feedback from the internet, my heart is set on the Canon Ixus digital camera.

At this moment in time I the Ixus 50 is cheaper than the 40 and 55 model. Apart from the Megapixel size, is there any difference between them? Also has anyone had any experience or know any thing wrong with these models?

    i would try http://www.amazon.co.uk

great prices i bought my sony well our family sony p100 digtal camera from there in 2004 september for just £199.99 and it cost £250.00 or even more than that in other shops elsewhere.

plus you get free delivery. and its fast delivery ive shopped at amazon for almost 5 years.

( actually if you do go on to amazon they have customer comments of the products and items they sell - that may help you make your mind up easier )

for prices it has to be amazon.

other good websites ive shopped at in the past for good prices. :

    http://www.qed-uk.com

    http://www.empiredirect.co.uk

    hope this helps.

    see you from kerry.

I have an Ixusi Zoom which replaced a 2 month old Ixusi that had a coming together with a bottle of Bud and a basketball - and lost!! When the insurance came through we got a Konica Minolta which was 8 mp. We took the Konica back after a couple of weeks - it was soooo slow and I wasn't impressed with the pq. We paid the extra for the Ixusi Zoom and haven't looked back. Really pleased with it, it's small, easy to use and takes really good pictures.
  • The Ixus 55 has a slightly bigger digital screen than the ixus 50 but I think that is the only difference
  • On the Which report it says this of the ixus 50....

The Ixus 50 is similar to its little brother the Ixus 40. Image quality isn't as good, despite having an extra megapixel.
  • Also the ixus 40 is a 'best buy' and it says this...

A Best Buy and strong performer in all key areas. Even scored well on movie taking.

No wonder Ixus 50 is cheaper than the 40! I probably won't use the 5mp if i had the option anyways but just wondered what the difference apart from the size was.

On Amazon there was a lot of consumer reviews indicating that you need to buy a case for the Ixus 50 when you go down the beach/desserts, otherwise it can really mess the camera up. This must apply for the Ixus 40 as well?

So the moneysavingexpert verdict is to go for the 40?
