Does anyone have a link at all to something that i can print off to show my landlord with reference to br not effecting the house/address. its a personal thing rather than the address but as some people still see it as a really bad thing & that theyre house will be effected.:o
Also would or should i leave some sort of insurance on my house as we are leaving it in a week until repoed. just in case anything happens while we are not living there. of course we will be checking on house but u never know?

Well it may not be much but.... we live in rented and were advised by Insolvency debt line that our property would not be effected by BR, and that any landlord could ask any local council to get this assurance. Personally I have yet to see what happens with our lot. And from my personal point of view I'd always insure a house/contents

Nev you can try this link

        http://www.cccs.co.uk/faqs/Bankruptcy_Advice.aspx

Towards the bottom it mentions the part about Bankruptcy not affecting anyone else?

Hi I'm in a similar position and there doesn't seem to be a definitive rule on this. I've been told that the OR should tell your LL of your BR but in practice this isn't always the case.

Aside from that it is down to the LL to draw his own conclusions and decide either way. Don't hold me to this-It's just the info I have gathered so far on the subject.

I have a similar thread I'm posting on myself, have a look, someone may have posted something you may find useful too.

I have been told by my LA that they don't think the LL will object and my tenancy will be ok. I'm waiting for them to come back to me on this though.

Best of Luck, I know just how worried you must be.

      4. I bit my nails over this. I don't have an address or phone number for my landlord. I contacted the letting agency and they gave me a phone number. I rang and spoke to the landlady (first time I've spoken to them so a bit awkward) I told her I was considering bankruptcy, that legally they may get a letter via the letting agency telling them after the event and I wanted to get their ok before going through with it. She was very nice and only asked "will you still be able to pay the rent?" I pointed out I'd still be in steady work with steady pay, just the credit card bills would be unpaid and she was absolutely fine with that, then asked if I wanted to stay in the house long term. I said yes and that was that.
I'm glad I checked first but to be honest even if she'd wanted to boot me out I'd probably still go for bankruptcy as don't really have a choice in this. Now I just need to get the damn forms filled in fully!

thanks guys very helpfull. the la is aware that we are giving up our house voluntarily so they can draw there own conclusions from that but we have been & accepted a 12 month term on the rented house so hopefully as long as there is no clause on the tenancy ( we have a specimen from the la) & no mention of it there. we may say on that note that we were going to do an iva but have been advised on br so that could be our approach.
