I wanna give away my bunk beds to charity but have them collected!

Hi, my aunty is redecorating her daughters' bedrooms and she has some bunk beds she wants to get rid of. They are in very good condition so she would prefer them to go to charity rather than the councils bulk collection service.

Does anyone know whether there are any charities in the birmingham area that collect furniture.

I don’t know Birmingham very well but you could advertise them on freecycle, if you have a group in your area, then if someone needs them they could arrange collection for themselves, not exactly charity but better than just chucking them.

Or try contacting women’s refuge, etc. They collected some furniture from my mum (quite a while ago now) and may be able to pick it up.

Most of the charity shops in my town collect items form your home, Barnados army are always on the lookout for large items, we also have a place called the resettlesment centre that collect items on sell them on very cheap to any 1 who needs them

If you get a free local paper, look in there, the charities sometimes advertise, usually the small ones, and also try your local library.

You could advertise them on freecycle and state you will give to the most deserving cause.

Sometimes the Samaritans will collect them for homeless people and also Shelter will collect them for people in need too. You might have to wait a while though as there is a waiting list.

I've tried that freecycle thing but theres noone else in this town registered on it.

Do you have a Community furniture store ?They are set up by charity and do furniture up and ,sell ir at low cost to low income families .
Another thought is ,ring Social services as ,they often require furniture for people who need re-homing urgently .

I forgot about Aid and Assist. They will collect them for free too but they wont collect mattresses unless they are marked fire retardant.

I think the commumity transport thing was what I had in mind. I've given the number to my aunty so will see how that goes. If that doesn't work out then phoning the social services seems like a good option too

I contacted our nearest Salvation Army, who put me in touch with a local charity that collects furniture/appliances to donate to homeless people. They collected a working top loading washing machine from our knitchen- that we just didn't need because we brought our own when we moved into our new place.
