Obsession with the post!

Since having my light bulb moment at the end of July, I am constantly obsessed with the post at the minute from creditors, CCCs etc. I rush to the door when it comes and my wife describes me as a 'geek'.
I am on school holidays (teacher) and my post doesn't come until mid-late morning. I think when I go back in 3 weeks, I will have withdrawal symptoms because I will not be able to see the post until 5.30pm lol.
Does this die down?!?!?! Anyone else as sad as me?

My problem is slightly different in my obsession with the post in the sense that I actually dread it and cannot relax until it has arrived (mid-day too). Back in the days when I was married and we were in big financial trouble, I would be so scared of the post coming and seeing "brown" letters being dropped through the letter box (of course there are white ones too!).
This fear has not left me, eventhough I am in complete control of my finances and know to the penny what I have to pay each month, how much is left in my account everyday, etc. (I am obsessed with checking my bank account online everyday)
I am a teacher too and going back to school means that I'll only think about the post when I put my key in the door at the end of the day. I'm sure I need some sort of counsellingLBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

It's strange that after over-coming debt (well done by the way!) you still feel like this.
I'm sure I will get annoyed with the post soon enough though when Barclays who have been recieving £200 a month on a CC get £1 for this month, £1 for next month followed by DMP paymentsLBM - 30/07/09

Oh my goodness i thought i was the only one! I am SO glad other people do this! Big sigh of relief off me!
I'm blessed enough to be in a position where i can afford all my bills now so its not a moment of dread for me. I'm obsessed with the post in a excited way. Since getting myself on the financial straight and narrow i LOVE sorting the letters out to see what i can save money on, how credit cards amounts are getting smaller, and how the gas bit has been calculated to within an inch of its life so i only owe £1.24 etc. Just nice to be able to see where i'm saving!! 3 days a week i travel round the local area for work so go home at lunch anyway, but more and more i'm making excuses to go home the other 2days so i can check the post then too!!
The thing is though, as more statements became paperless and things get paid off or subscriptions cancelled, there is less post to get excited about. If i've been very busy working all day sometimes i forget i've not had chance to nip home at lunch and half way home sat in traffic i'll remember i have post waiting for me. So i'll rush home and fling the door open only to find the free paper and a menu for a chinese takeaway.
This is like an AA meeting. I'm Kat and i'm obsessed with the post. So good to be in like minded company. People at work just dont understand!0 -
I have a fear of the post too, but it has nothing to do with debt.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

Before I started having money troubles I used to be so disorganised with letters and post (and life in general
) But now at least with the post I'm not happy until I've seen the post and unfortunately with my shift patterns and our extremely variable post delivery time from about 09.00 to about 15.00 I often dont get to see the post till the late evening.
I think its to reassure myself there's no bad news in it even though that is becoming less likely with each passing day.0 -
I'm obsessed too! Post gets opened, read, dealt with then sorted into various files...
Anyone else a filing geek too?? I quite look forward to having new accounts etc so I get get a pretty new file for the correspondence

Lol same here, mine arrives mid afternoon. I also became obsessed with the post and couldn't wait for it to arrive, once the posty had been and had nothing for me I felt really depressed
Two months in and for the first time in ages I'm now not that bothered, I had a week away last week without any post at all and it felt great.
It is lovely to see a credit card statement where the balance has actually reduced rather than increased.DMP mutual support thread member:3270
