One step at a time? Ok, first step.....

I have around £13k of unsecured debt with four loans and three credit cards in there, not to mention the OD!

As I said, the first step I want to take is to clear my cards off the list.

Capital One - £366.98
Vanquis - £248.64
Monument - £236.22

I have had some trouble with these cards, so much so that Monument have put a bar on my account and told me to pay up as soon as possible, then it will be closed.

This will be my diary of payments made on my journey to clearing these accounts.

Wish me luck.

BB

    Good luck BB

How are you going to pay them off - with normal payments or will you be trying to earn more/spend less to target the cards?

    Hi

I'll be letting the DD's come off as normal for the minimum payment, but at the same time I'll be hitting the highest interest cards first, after I bring the Capital One inside the limit by ebaying, car bootying, doing my normal overtime at work, cashing in my change jars, anything really to intensely hammer these cards out of existence.

good luck with your journey. You might want to post a statement of affairs. That way we can see if there are other areas of spending eg on insurances, that can be targeted to save you money.

Here is a link to one that you can format to post here on MSE

    Good luck

Thanks - I do have my main thread which I must admit is woefully out of date. I have posted several SOA's during my time on here, which I must say, Moneytroubles, is godsent to those in a wee bit of a fix. I use my self made budget planner regularly, updating constantly and trying to cut here and there. I have just done my annual comparison for all my insurances and I'm happy to say that I'm good in that department. I can fully concentrate on this task and see some items drop off my list.

Four days to go till pay day and I'm still £30 up with fuel in the tank and food in the fridge. Hope nothing crops up then I can drop £30 extra to Capital One. p.s. I was so close to a payday loan, but I resisted and scraped enough to get me through.

I stuck £121 into the Capital One card, but still never brought in under the limit, so I got another £24 charge. The balance is now £266.35 and £66.35 over the limit. Am I right in saying that I'll need to pay £66.35 + £24 + the interest next month to get it within the limit?

My other two cards got the minimum payment this month.
