Pregnancy and mortgage application

Daft question :rolleyes: but sure someone can help?! If you were planning for a baby, wanted a new (and more expensive!) home, and knew your salary was going to drop at end of maternity leave (to part-time salary), should you apply for the new mortgage before the end of the maternity pay? What are the options???
Our challenges:
* Aim: Debt-free in 2010

* Debt 01/05/09: £6770.33p D :wall:
* Progress: 22/09/09 : £4381.02p D:j

  • If your plans upon return from maternity have already been agreed with your employer then it may not matter. Depends whether there is a paper trail on that decision. It may already be obvious what your future salary will be, in which case they will base the mortgage on that.

    If not, and its just in your head that you have plans to go part-time, then yes, do the Application asap.

    Although a bigger hurdle, looking at your signature, might be that they want debts dealt with, depending on the LTV/affordability, first.
