we are asking on here, in particular about taxing the expenses, and trying to get the facts straight and correct before the drivers go and state their case.0

Expenses are usually reimbursement for payment already made and against receipts. If not then could be seen as additional pay.
With all respect to the business trying to save money, I would see paying expenses as part of the salary as a way in which they can increase the hourly rate and therefore not fall foul of the minimum wage.0 -
thanks to everyone for the comments and advice. i will tell the drivers all that has been said and leave to rest up to them.xxxxx0

as i said earlier, when they are abroad, the hours worked are considerably more in a day than in uk. sometimes up to 16 hours in a day. if they dont work like that, then they get behind schedule. they arent just driving, they are loading and unloading quite substantial loads.
it would be very useful if the subsistance money was paid as it used to be; in cash,in their hand, before they leave.and paid the same daily rate they would get if they were in england. like it used to be done.
there is no union there unfortunately. i asked him last night . they could help all the drivers hugely.
Couldnt your son take you on his trips with him, and you could cook for him and take care of him. Then everyone wins, right?
You have a think laterally, love.0 -
