Not sure on the sale or return alcohol, but both Tesco and Waitrose do free glass hire. I think Tesco ask for a deposit, Waitrose didn't.

Tesco you can get sale or return on any unopened alcohol, just keep your receipt and return it within 28 days. You can also get free glass hire, just leave a deposit. Ask at the customer service desk.

Majestic Wine used to do it when I worked there. Admittedly that was 20 years ago but you never know.

Not all Tesco stores are 2 months in advance, maybe try another store nearby? In Tesco there is no minimum spend for glass hire.

Morrisons also do the glass hire and will take back any unopened bottles of wine or multipacks of beer etc provided they've been purchased on a sale or return basis - just ask at the customer service desk!

For the number you need is it worth hiring glasses? I am sure I have bought bog standard wine glasses in Morrisons for less than £1 for 4 and they had tumblers etc too. Were something like 84p, its their red/white label basic range of stuff. Will always come in handy and will only cost you about £7 for the lot.

Tesco does a 'basic' wine glass too, not sure how expensive, but pretty cheap.
I have had glases from Majestic in the last few years, sale or return booze too. I think the glasses come in crates of 24. Service was good but as it was such a very hot day everyone was drinking soft drinks. I ended up taking back everything except two cases of wine & they were not very happy. :o
