Basic cake recipie

Hi i have an 8 inch cake tin and it is 1 and 1/2 inch deep

Please can anyone let me know a basic cake recipie

I have been searching but cnnot find a simple one

from memory its something like
4oz self raising flour
4 oz sugar
4oz butter
2 eggs????????

I have got a book to write all the recipies down now as i keep forgetting how to make things

    Your memory is correct;) Make sure your butter is very soft first, then put all the ingredients in a bowl, beat like mad, or use an electric beater until well blended.

    Pour into your greased and lined cake tin. Bake at 180c for about 30 mins. Keep an eye on it. It is done when the top springs back when you touch it with your finger.

    To make a bigger cake use 3 eggs and 6oz of everything else. For an even bigger cake use 4 eggs and 8oz of everything else;)

    Variations

    Replace 1oz in 4 of flour with cocoa powder for a chocolate cake.
    Add a tsp of instant coffee dissolved with another tsp of hot water for a coffee cake.
    Add lemon zest for a lemon cake
    Add chocolate chips
    Add sultanas, raisins, nuts etc

    today i have made soup in the slow cooker with left overs
    bread in the bread maker
    now cake is in the oven - (thanks for the help)
    i am going to make rice pudding now so im off to search how to do that too
