Party plan: does anyone really make any money from it?

  • Personally, I wouldn't believe a word of what most people say on this thread. It's very common among MLM 'business owners' to completely overstate what they actually earn online, in the hope that people will contact them to ask for the secrets of their success and so on - with the aim of recruiting said people into the MLM scheme and thus earning them commission.
I'm sorry you feel this way but please do not call me a liar!

I personally could not live with myself knowing I had conned people.

I have always told people to earn money with party plan you need to put time and effort into it and then you will earn good money but this is the same as any business - time & effort = results - not misleading just common sense.
    I get paid to party!:rotfl:

Can you change the colour of the text please ? Remember it is illegal to tell people they can earn money by recruiting others.

"It is illegal for a promoter or a participant in a trading scheme to persuade anyone to make a payment by promising benefits from getting others to join a scheme.Do not be misled by claims that high earnings are easily achieved."

Therefore, it is illegal to say "Pay me such and such to join this company and I promise you that for every person you sign up, you'll earn X amount". Indeed, earning commission on a downline's sales is different because you're not earning the money for recruiting that person, you're earning the money because you've trained them well and they're earning money themselves.

I personally think thats not true . My wife started working for PartyLite two years ago . She didn't have that many friends to initially have partys , but manged to get herself off the ground . Now she has a team of consultants and earns over £1000 a month . This has been through hard work and determination rather than anything else and not giving up ( even though there were times when it would have been very easy to throw in the towel ) . The rewards are there , but like any business you have to be working on your business . The secret of suceeding with party plan is getting new business and not staying in the same circles . This requires finding other ways to network and expand the business. What a lot of people find is they start with family and friends , run out of people to sell to , then give up . Partyplan is all about marketing . If you know how to Market yourself and your products your business will expand.
People think it's only the people at the top of a business make the money ..not true . If they dont sell and work at their business , their business will fail just as much as anyone elses .

My wife and I are now joining forces and running the business together . Hard work , i can tell you . If people think they can sit on their laurels and expect a regular income for doing nothing then they are going to be sadly dissapointed . But it can happen if you want it to . Ultimately its down to how much effort you put in and how easily you are to give up

I find this very insulting - what gives you the right to make such a statement?

I have worked with Usborne books for over 9 years, I am a Divisional Executive. I work hard, I train my people well and in return I earn well.

If you asked me how much I earned, I would tell you, but I would also say (as others have done too) that you only get out what you put in and I can't promise you will earn anything, however for every book you sell, you earn 24% commission and if you wish to build a team you will earn extra commission for providing help and support to them. With this in mind, what you can earn is up to you.

there are companies out there who will try to wow you into finding out more, but if you deal with any company that is a member of the Direct Selling association (https://www.dsa.org.uk) they adhere to a very strict code of practise which protects the 'representatives' and the customers.

Please don't tar us all with the same brush, we are mainly honest people who work hard at our businesses. A misinformed, sweeping comment like does a lot of damage and undermines the hard work that we put in.

If you are interested in Multi level marketing (grown up party planning!!), the do your own research. Question and be prepared to work hard (as you would in any job!!)

The best bit about this business , is the harder you work the more rewards you will get . How many other jobs offer you that? How frustrating can it be when you work for a company where you work your socks off , and a colleague just does the minimum and still takes home the same Pay ? Most network marketing companies reward you every step of the way and even offer fantastic holidays. Last year my wife and I went on an all expenses paid holiday to Malta ( after only 18 months of being in the business ) How many employers reward their employees in this way ? ( Not many!). After years of working for the N.H.S , i personallly found working in a MLM company the best thing I ever did. I now work from home , never have to worry about getting the time off work to go and watch my kids play football or watch them in the school play, or take time out for a well deserved holiday . ( and NO i'm not just saying this to persuade anyone to join my business !!)

Make sure you find out everything you need to know before signing up

Don't worry about asking for time to think it over . Body Shop at Home are a good company to work for as they are members of the D.S.A an have to abide by a strict code of conduct . They also have a good reputation nationally and are well known

Questions you might want to ask are

    1. What is the start up cost ? And how is this paid ?
    2. What support will you get and how will training be given ?
    3. What are the other costs? Like postage
    4. Who could you sell them to? and who would have partys for you?
    5. How many people doing Body Shop at home are in your area?
    6. What other ways could you premote these products and get more partys booked

If you love the products it will make it easier for you to sell them , and chances are other people will love them too .

Good luck with it , and do let us know how you are doing

I think with any MLM business it depends on how long the business has been around and how many other people in the area are doing the same as you.

I sold Usborne for a few years and to begin with was successful, however as the business became more popular, and the recession started to bite, my sales ( and that of my team ) went down. This was due to other people selling ( not part of my team) and people not having the money to spend.

Also with this type of business it relies on you building a team, and a team that will sell well, if you are your team don't sell well you lose all of it and have to start again.

Some people do make this work, but it depends on how saturated their area is ( and HO won't tell you).

Anyone who wants a guaranteed regular income should get a 'proper' job, if you can afford to take a risk it is a very good fulfilling opportuinity
