Hi, I’ll be at the end of my current offset mortgage with Yorkshire Building Society in 10 weeks time and I think I’ll be moving to the One Account offset mortgage. Looked into it and it seems the best deal for my circumstances.

The member of staff that I spoke to told me they have an ‘introduce a friend’ scheme, whereby if I fill out a voucher with a friend’s name and postcode, we’d both receive £125 credited to our accounts within 28 days of me taking the mortgage out.

I hope this post isn’t violating any rules, but it is all about saving money so here goes….Would there be anyone interested out there who would like to recommend me? The printable vouchers and details are on there website for you to see. I can’t post the link as I’m a new user but typing “one account recommend a friend” takes you to it.

All that is needed is that you have a live one account and you haven’t recommended more than 3 people already. With a surname and postcode (don’t need house number), I could write it on the voucher and attach it to my application which I intend to submit in the next week.

Please be assured, I am not after personal info etc. The £125 I would get would pay for the £115 legal fees that I will be charged.

Don’t know whether I’ll get loads of offers or none, so if there are loads, it’ll be first come first served.

Thanks

Why do you think the One account is best at the moment?

A lot of people have had problems with non competative rates and the likes of Barclays and First direct have better products when the comparisons were done in the past.

    Looking today
    One account 3.75% £0
    First direct 2.95% £699
    Barclays 3.49% £999

    First Direct still looks better.

After offsetting, i'd have about £40 000 and although the other interest rates are lower, the fees are exceptionally high (and without justification if you ask me).

Many thanks to rinkydinkpanther for being the first reply.

    OK makes sense
low net lending makes the break even on the first direct over 2 years longer if you are reducing the debt. Lets hope the OA stay in line with rates.
