DCA payment

Hello,

some of you may know my story with CCCS etc but in short, I am due to start my DMP in October, until then it is £1 token payments to creditors.

I have finally tracked down the DCA who have taken the £1700 overdraft from Natwests hands and got in touch. I have informed them of my impending DMP, they have offered full and final etc which Im not in a position to do and they seem relatively happy with this. No bully tactics etc. The company is called Apex.

My question is, having never heard of them, should I pay Apex the £1 by cheque (thus giving my signature) or over the phone (giving them my accound details)

or

am I looking far too much into the negative with this DCA and presuming they will do everything to me from fleecing the money, stealing the wife and taking my favourite trousers lol.

Why not pay them by postal order (I know there's a fee but it may be worth paying it) or get someone else to write you a cheque for £1. I wouldn't be giving my account details over the phone that's for sure.
Debt at highest May 04 - £65,639.22 - Started DMP with CCCS 1st June 04 & now self managed DMP
Debt now 20th December 2015 £31677.13 Paid Off to date £33962.09 - just not going quickly enough!

Debt free date July 2024! I don't think so, it'll be going quicker than that!!!

I agree with Jules, either ask for their bank details and set up a standing order (no fees) which is the preferred option, or ask someone else to write a cheque. For example, if the debt is in your name - can your wife write you a cheque for them?:)

Righto, will ring them tomorrow. I thought they seemed a touch fishy because CCCS asked me to get their bank details so that when my DMP goes through, they can pay them.

I asked APEX for them and they wouldn't give me them, saying that CCCS have dealings with them and they will know the details. At first I thought ok fair do's.

I will ring and ask again, explaining the standing order business. If they say no again for the details, should I just tell them they wont be receiving a payment then for this and next month before the DMP starts? I havent paid anything for a year on this debt and I only got in touch with them for the first time the other day

Opened a new account in my name for DMOP as wifes account is overdrawn and the OD is going into the DMP so she can't write me a cheque!

    Hi Danny,

They have the choice to either provide you with details to pay them by standing order, or receive nothing further until the DMP with CCCS kicks in. You can give them the choice and let them decide. Ask for it in writing if they are happy to wait until DMP kicks in - you probably won't get it - but ask!

Well done on getting the new account sorted!
