Hi everyone - advice please for someone who suffers with a shiny nose! I use Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser and bronzer, have also used their foundation and makeup stick and have used thier pressed powder for a long time, but have run out and would like to try something else. Any recommendations for a translucent powder in a compact and also loose powder please? I have also used lancome's product in a green tube which reduces shine - this is very good, but prefer using powder.

I have recently discovered Avon Anew compact powder it gives a medium/heavy coverage probably more on the heavy side, I use it as a foundation on its own so it might not be what your looking for but worth a look if you like powder.
Not a powder but No 7 oil free base in a white tube is brilliant and used by many make up artists instead of more expensive alternatives:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -

Do you want both a compact, AND a loose powder?
A good tip is to just buy loose powder, but to carry it round, simply peel apart a cotton wool 'pad' and put some loose powder inside, then sort of 'reseal' it... Keeps it safe, and unspillable, and is great for touch ups!
I only use 'lily lolo' loose matt powder, but do this to carry it round for work, nights out etc...You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

After trying billions of different powders (or so it seems), I've come to the conclusion that they're all the same. I buy whatever's on offer, which at the moment is Rimmel Stay Matte.
I do always buy a shine control version though. I read a Bobbi Brown makeup book once and it told me translucent powder is pointless (seems a bit weird if BB actually produce a translucent powder though?) so I always go for a light pinky shade.0 -

The Body Shop all in one face base is excellent, nice matte finish, excellent at evening out skin tones.

Bourjois do a great loose powder that comes in a container complete with brush attached. You can generally get it on ebay at a much lower price than the high st. I have used this for about 7 years and haven't found anything as good.0
