Prioritising????

Hi
This may sound like a silly question but my head is kinda jumbled and not sure which bill to pay and which to prioritise. Im so worried about them all and feel so ill thinking about how I will meet them all.

Im kinda robbing peter to pay paul at the moment but..........

Which is priority? Which will get me into the most trouble if I dont pay them? Which is better to pay first?

HP agreements such as Catalogues
or utility bills such as gas, electricity etc.

I get charged if I dont pay my catalogue and dont with the utilities but Im just soooooooooo confused

Help, advice please

Priority is Rent/Mortgage and Council tax bills

Gas and electric ARE next priority as they are essential

HP is NOT catalogue HP is credit secured against goods ie cars

if you struggling to pay your debts without getting charged post a SOA here and we can help more....xx

Sammy has given good advice - don't get behind with council tax, gas and electric (believe me I know!). If you are having to choose each month it suggests a bigger problem that you might be able to nip in the bud if you take action now.

  • Hi
    Thanks
I meant catalogues. eg. I get charged £12 for late payments and no charge for my monthly payment of gas and electricity if it is late

I am just trying to not get into more debt by being charged for late payments

So what would you consider more important out of catalogue and gas/elec?
  • ps: I am sorry, I dont use this site a huge amount. What is a SOA?

    Hi Lollipop

A SOA is a Statement of Affairs. It is a simple budget that helps you to set out your monthly expenditure and other posters can help you to shave a little off. You can find it here: http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

    Hi,
The worst a catalogue can do is chase you for the money (possibly getting a CCJ), but gas and electric can be cut off if you don't pay - that is why they don't need to charge late fees.

  • Hi

I was the same as you - couldnt figure out why I should pay the non interest ones before the charging companies.

But a run in with council tax baliff, a CCJ, threat of courts, several disconnection letters, and I soon realised utilities and council tax MUST come first.

This means paying them first, organizing payment of arrears and ensuring that each month you have enough money to get them up to date.

If you complete the SOA then people can help you understand where your cash is going and how to cut back to ensure you can pay the priority debts first, and how much you have left over to pay the other debts.
