Tesco discount scam

Yesterday we bought two 6 pack wholemeal bread rolls 65p each but 2 for £1. This discount is usually given at the end of the till roll, it wasn't.
I had to go to customer services (delay) to get the discount. They took it away to check and were some time doing so (more delay). I was then refunded double 60p. Given the delay I was not happy and a (junior) manager was requested (even more delay). He confirmed the mistake and said it was not a store problem but was nationwide! and many customers would have spotted this. He had no answer when I asked why the mistake had not been corrected.
So how many people bought this item nationwide and how many spotted this what would apper to be a blatant lie?

The only thing that is constant is change.

Personally i always check my receipts from any store before i leave the premises, saves a lot of hassle. Mistakes happen quite a lot in supermarkets.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
30p scam! how absolutely dare they!
what you call a blatant lie others call a simple computer error - You got DTD, so this "scam" worked out in your favour!!Legal team on standby0 -
So nobody else spotted it nationwide Tescos must be making a fortune from being dishonest. Had this been a financial services company everybody would be howling about misleading advertisingThe only thing that is constant is change.0

This happens every day in every tesco store on various products,
so until they employ robots to change shelf edge labels and promotional posters and robots to input the new promotional data there is scope for human error.
This is why they have double the difference in place (formally R+R) This is more than they give in Sainsburys.
You were lucky that you got DtD, many people have to fight to even have it acknowledged that there was an overcharge in the first place (admittedly on slightly higher value goods though)
I really woudnt make any more fuss over 60p, at the end of the day they have to go and check the shelf which will cause delay.
You have to weigh up whether its worth the wait at CS for 60p or just leave it till another day when you are overcharged £10
Something like that might be specific to one store ie a label printed incorrectly or it could be a till problem which affects every store but may not get fixed very quickly.0 -
As I said "It was an error"
"It is nationwide"
Is it only me that can multiply 30p by an awful lot to see that it comes to serious money. Don't forget Tescos are not doing well at the moment.
This has nothing to do with me or my 60p (I've always been given DtD at Tescos) it is to do with Tescios saying they will give you something and then not doing so.
It only takes 3333 people to buy this item for them to con £1000 out of their loyal customers. I would have thought that the store I use would have done this, conservatively,in a weekend all by itself. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -
mmmm....me thinks this ground has been covered before somewhere!!!!Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
I don't exist, it is merely your imagination.

When he said it was nationwide, it may well have been that he read a message from head office saying to go fix the problem, but you were caught out by it just before he could fix it.
However, remember that supermarkets are staffed by human beings, and these human beings can make mistakes, hence the reason why there is a double the difference policy. If no mistakes ever happened, then Tesco would never have this policy. One thing to remember though, if you truly feel so hard done by the fact that you were overcharged 30p, then sue Tesco after all the DTD policy is only a goodwill gesture and in no way restricts your right to seek recompense for all your "delays." It will probably be good for a laugh.0
