Does anyone regret going BR?

I'm just wondering if anyone has regretted going bankrupt?

It's been 6 days now since my BR and it's always on my mind. I'm no longer worrying but emotionally i'm drained with what has happened. Posting on the boards is helping me so much, and the knowledge and strength Ive gained is invaluable.

I just wonder if and when the 'freedom' feeling disappears I'll feel sad, ashamed, anger about what has hapened and be right back feeling like I was waiting for BR court date.

Your thoughts are very much appreciated.

Thanks

Those feelings will pass - you've gone bankrupt now you can put it behind you and concentrate on LIVING! Don't dwell on it. Life's too short!

Never regretted if for one moment. At the time, I was very apprehensive about it. However, since then, I've had two kids, great job now, haven't looked back.

Whilst you have only just gone bankrupt, its all down hill from here on in. The OR are really nice people and are there to help - not judge, so please don't worry about it. Its nothing to be ashamed of either. What you have done in terms of going bankrupt is identifying that you have a problem and taken the first steps to rectify it.

The freedom feeling shouldn't disappear providing that you are very open with the OR as they will help you get to the end of this.

Concentrate now on living as fiveryearplan says. :D

Hiya, I'm feeling the same at the moment, well Im feeling more sad than anything, I know I've done the right thing but can't help wondering..... As much as my family have been great I still feel quite alone and then my son, bless him, said he was prepared to barricade himself in his room if they came to take the house which has made me feel quite sick.

I take some strength from the replies you have had on here and think that maybe when I go back to work I will feel better.

  • sometimes, i miss my nice car and having credit cards for a feeling of security ,. but none of these things were mine. But owing so much money i couldnt pay back, the endless phone calls and letters, thinking constantly about ways around money problems like paying one card more one month so i could use it to to buy some shoes for work, constant arguments at home, the feeling i was working for nothing and the depression that came with that feeling it was never ending. Im still suffering slightly now , its only been a few months from BR. But i feel as if I've been let out of prison, before i felt trapped and doomed to 80 years in a DMP! now i may have nothing, but i have a learnt some much. and things will get better.

People say ' ooo you wont get credit for 6 years and then it will be hard' ermmmm i couldnt get credit before anyway:confused:, and who was going to give credit to me when i couldnt only afford £3 per creditor on a DMP till i was 80!
  • I have nothing, but it's all mine! :)

I think you're right there. Totally agree with you. The absolute thought of borrowing another penny sends absolute horror down my spine.

My oven has blown up today. 6 months ago I would have happily, stupidly and ignorant to the consequences put £250 on the credit card to pay for another that same day.

Now, I'm not bothered. I have a microwave, slow cooker, hob and grill still work. Even though I have no access to credit and fair enough i'll be losing my home in a couple of months any way, put all that aside, knowing what I know now, it's tough, I don't NEED an oven. Having one will make my life easier but I can cope without it till I have SAVED the amount I need.

It's scary to know that you lead your life thinking how you're behaving is a perfectly acceptable way of controlling your finances.

*tut* *tut* at my own ignorance.
