do the nationwide check your credit scoring when you get an agreed in principle from them?

I have went through my broker and he has said there is an agrement in principle with nationwide so he has asked us for statements and payslips etc.... but I am abit worried as my statements show I have an agreed overdraft limit and I have been up to the limit and sometimes over it wld this be looked at very carefully or is it to just show my pay gets paid in weekly?
anyone got advice on these issues please reply thanks!!!!

the agreement in pronciple means, subject to valuation and checking your finances (statements, payslips).

So it is now they will credit check you. The fact you have gone over your limit isnt good. This could well cause problems.
  • yeah but my broker said to me that he had a better rate with someone else but they wld not lend to me because I had a missed payments with a credit card company bout 5 year ago so they wld not lend so he has got us another deal with the nationwide, so I assumed they all done checks with us before hand.

Going over your credit limit is unlikely to show on your credit report.
The problem might arise though, if Nationwide subsequently ask to see bank statements..

    They rarely do though

  • That sounds good koexelek, well since you mentioned it my broker said they have only asked for 1 months payslips and p60 but has took all the other stuff just incase like statements, that wld be good if they don't thanks for your help, do they check your score before offering you an A.I.P tho? there seems to be a bit of a black cloud bout if they do or not.

No - the AIP is done before the credit check.
  • I've been told that Nationwide do a credit check as part of the AIP.

I didnt go with Nationwide so I dont know what they do, my lender did a 'soft search' with experian prior to AIP, I didnt check my file with the other credit reference agencies so I dunno if they also checked them. No other search showed up on Experian - but Im sure they will have done a full search and it either got missed from Experian or they did a full search with one of the other companies.

This is true, but as part of the conversation to do the AIP Natiowide or your broker should have said that a credit check would be performed.
  • do they ask for statements been told they don't but does anyone else heard of this?

sometimes, if there is something coming up on the searches that give them a little cause for alarm they will ask for statements and if the account conduct is not satisfactory they may decline the application.

if account conduct is good you have nothing to worry about.
    Happily an ex mortgage broker!
