Need really good hair clippers

Years ago, the in-laws bought us some hair clippers back from a trip to New Zealand, made by Breville. They've done sterling service, but they are now vibrating very noisily and I'm worried they're going to die on me mid shear ...
I've tried buying replacements, admitted from the cheaper end, but NOTHING seems to power through the boys' hair the way these do. I thought it was because I'd bought rechargeables, but no, yesterday I bought a mains-powered Remington and it's just not got the 'oomph'. Tonight DS1 has ended up with a short back and sides and a floppy top. :rotfl:
Most often I'm doing DH, and taking half an inch off, so I think they'll be fine for him, just about. DSs tend to let it go floppy before I'm asked to attack it, so tonight it was probably 2-3" coming off, but the Breville would have powered through much faster. The other day I took 4-5" off DS2, with the old pair, and you could really see the difference with each 'pass'. Honestly don't think this new pair would have coped at all!
What do I need? They all have dead straight hair, it's fine but there's lots of it ... Mains-powered is fine (although the Remington's power lead is a bit on the short side, while I'm moaning ...)
Sorry to ramble ...

OK, so next question, do I just go for top of the range, or what DO I look out for? I don't need fancy trimmers, I've never used the slanted ones. I just need 'oomph' but I don't know what would tell me they've got it! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0
