I think I am big in trouble-call to national debtline

I used natioanl debtline and on the whole I was extremely pleased with how I was spoken to and guided through the process, my finances and answers to my, sometimes rather ridiculus, questions. I can say that on one occasion I was not happy at an advisor's tone of voice or attitude and had I had that advisor the very first time I plucked up the courage to very quietly say I need help with my debt I don't think I would be here today and would have burried my head in the sand.
This is one area of 'customer' helplines that really needs to have the very best of people who have the very best knowledge of how to speak to people who are feeling the lowest of the low. It's as importantant in my opinion at anti-bullying lines or domestic abuse.0 -
Hi dollparts, i think you may have misunderstood the NDL person a bit, When he/she mentions "a big mistake" it is not that you will be told of by the OR or anything, just that by paying the motgage it would have been more helpfull to you (not to the creditors) as most people recommend that you pay priority debts first. remember this is people who have experience and think its the most natural thing in the world whereas in reality the OR understands that people pay whoever shouts loudest and most agressively for their money.
As regards the bankruptcy, YOU WILL NOT BE REFUSED. The only "qualification" for bankruptcy is that you cannot pay your debts as they fall due (out of your income only, without using other credit, which you can't) and that you have taken advice (which you have).
So you really don't need to worry about not being acceptedHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0
