in Cutting tax
Hello, i started a new job in Jan and was on tax code BR which was emergency tax. Got that sorted but was paying to much tax for 2/3 months........ I left that job last month and just got first payslip for new job and i am on BR tax code again. I haven't got the p45 (i think it is) from my ex employer.
Roughly 2 months ago i sent a letter and my p60 etc to HMRC to get my tax rebate from Jan and Feb and have heard nothing since, how do i get the tax back i am owed... does anyone have a phone number i can ring or anything?
Thanks

So when exactly did you code change - was it before or after 6th April?I left that job last month and just got first payslip for new job and i am on BR tax code again. I haven't got the p45 (i think it is) from my ex employer.
In the absence of a P45 you should have completed a P46. Without either you will be placed on BR code. You need to either hand in your P45 or complete a P46.Roughly 2 months ago i sent a letter and my p60 etc to HMRC to get my tax rebate from Jan and Feb and have heard nothing since, how do i get the tax back i am owed... does anyone have a phone number i can ring or anything?
It's taking that long to process rebates.
Find your correct tax office here;

However post some figures and we can see if you are due a rebate.0 -
I shall dig out my old payslips and let you know the figures.
How will the tax rebate pay me, send a cheque to my address, give it to my current employer who will put it in my wages or will it just go into my bank.
I had my "correct" tax code in March i "think".0 -
If you had your correct tax code in March and were on PAYE then your employer should have paid the refund due in your March pay.
If you are due a refund from 2008 / 09 they will either pay by cheque or into your bank account if they have the details.
As for sorting refunds, I applied for a refund for this year mid July. I phoned last week to be told that were sorting letters from early June !! so a while to wait yet :mad:0 -

You will need your yearly totals from your March payslip or your P60.0 -
My old employer didn't give me a refund, i phoned the wages dept and they told me it wasn't down to them it was down to hmrc to refund me. So i wrote them a letter and sent them wot they asked for. Wow so i may get a response / chequw sometime this year if there still responding to letters from June! I hope they haven't lost mine!0

If your tax code was changed in March as you think an automatic refund should have been applied when your new tax code was used.
However without the figures this is purely specualtion.0
