This should probably be in the food shopping board but it's so quiet there...
Has anyone taken advantage of the £10 off order? Or do you order with them anyway? Was thinking of using this but not sure what to buy, so recommendations/experiences would be great.

I've been an Abel & Cole customer for a while and have been ver y impressed with themm, - their stuff's mostly very good and their custopmer service is excellent. I don't think i've ever had anything bad from them (a couple of poor quality bits of fruit/veg, but in each case theyve apologised and refunded the money immediately). I'd definiyely recommend them.

I had a free box from them at easter and then had a couple more boxes and some bits from them. It was OK, the box was a bit uninspiring each time, really plain veg, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, apples, oranges etc. It could have been the time of year but I preferred the riverford one. The meat was nice, I had some choccy biscuits from popina (crisp not gooey). I'd buy their box if you have an unadventurous palate.Well behaved women rarely make history.0

That's quite interesting - I've always found A&C's boxes to be pretty varied, so I guess what sort of selection you get depends on what area you're in. I had a really bad experience with Riverford, though, so i'm probably a bit biased in A&C's favour.Back after a very long break!0

I am a fan of Riverford too!! The couple of probelms I have had (eg manky mushroom!!) were solved and I got a free gift the next time (yummy apples!!). My brother used A and C but is now a riverford convert too!!

Hi!
I have taken advantage of it and have my delivery coming Wednesday. I have tried to utilise the best for my money, so havent bought any fruit and veg except onions for 60p. I have bought organic 18 sausages (3 for 2) will do us 3 meals, 2 large FR chickes with giblets (should do us 4 meals plus soup, organic large fresh soup (1 meal), wm bread and a couple of other small bits. The total after the £10 was either just over or just under £21:j:j:j...so approx 10+ meals (for the 3 of us) for £2 per meal:D

I've just worked out what to get my parents for Xmas ... we used to have a fruit cage, allotment, chickens and rabbits as a child and my dad loves to be creative in the kitchen. I can see him with a fruit and veg box. :TDeclutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

we use riverford, i found the abel + cole box we got not worth the money - not enough in it. Riverford are great, tons of stuff in teh box, it's always full - and as ^^^ any problems a freebie next order.....0

I was planning on using the A and C offer, but when I checked the prices and boxes on site, most things were twice the price of the local organic box scheme I use!
Last time I had one from them, the food was great quality, but for £15 there was not enough to feed 2 of us without top-ups. They tend to package things like the supermarkets, 500g courgettes, 750g bananas etc, whereas the one I get now, you get a little bit of everything, between 10 and 15 varieties for £10, and very rarely need to visit the shops. So, it is definitely worth looking around first to make sure it is the best deal near you.0 -
that's interesting. I did think of looking, but for £16.45 from Riverford you can get:
nicola potatoes UK
bunched carrots UK
bunched red onions UK
bunched beetroot UK
red oakleaf lettuce UK
bright lights/green chard UK
pointed cabbage UK
courgettes UK
cauliflower UK
dwarf french beans UK
cherry tomatoes UK
broccoli UK
That's this weeks large box - will easily fed 5. Local veg as well.
Which scheme do you use, trying?0
